Front Panel Controls:

  • LCD Display: Shows patch names, effect parameters, and menu options.
  • Navigation Buttons (UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT): Used to select patches and navigate menus.
  • ENTER Button: Confirms selections.
  • MENU Button: Accesses the main menu for editing effects and settings.

  • INPUT Jack: Connect your bass guitar here.
  • AUX IN Jack: Connect an external audio player (e.g., MP3 player) for jamming.
  • OUTPUT Jack: Connect to your amplifier, mixer, or headphones.
  • USB Port: For firmware updates and connecting to a computer (not for audio streaming).
  • DC 9V IN: Connect an optional AC adapter (Zoom AD-16 recommended).

Setup

Powering the Unit:

The B1Xon can be powered by four AA batteries or an optional AC adapter (Zoom AD-16).

  1. Using Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the unit and insert four AA batteries, observing the correct polarity.
  2. Using an AC Adapter: Connect the AC adapter to the DC 9V IN jack on the rear panel and plug it into a wall outlet.

Connecting Your Equipment:

  1. Connect your bass guitar to the INPUT jack.
  2. Connect the OUTPUT jack to your bass amplifier, mixer, or headphones.
  3. If desired, connect an external audio player to the AUX IN jack.

Operating Instructions

Turning On/Off:

To turn on the unit, press and hold the HOME button. To turn off, press and hold the HOME button again until the display turns off.

Selecting Patches:

The B1Xon stores effects settings as "patches."

  • In Play mode, use the UP/DOWN navigation buttons to scroll through patches.
  • Press the footswitches to quickly switch between patches in a bank.

Using the Tuner:

The B1Xon includes a chromatic tuner.

  • To activate the tuner, simultaneously press the two lower footswitches (REC/PLAY and STOP/CLEAR).
  • Play a single note on your bass. The display will show the note name and indicate if it is sharp or flat.
  • Adjust your tuning until the display indicates the note is in tune.
  • Press any footswitch or the HOME button to exit the tuner.

Using the Looper:

The looper allows you to record and overdub up to 30 seconds of audio.

  1. Press the REC/PLAY footswitch once to start recording.
  2. Press the REC/PLAY footswitch again to stop recording and start playback.
  3. To overdub, press the REC/PLAY footswitch during playback.
  4. To stop playback, press the STOP/CLEAR footswitch.
  5. To clear the recorded loop, press and hold the STOP/CLEAR footswitch.

Using Rhythm Patterns:

The B1Xon features 68 built-in rhythm patterns for practice.

  • Access the Rhythm function through the MENU.
  • Select a rhythm pattern and adjust its tempo and volume.
  • Press the REC/PLAY footswitch to start/stop the rhythm.

Editing Effects and Saving Patches:

The B1Xon allows you to customize effects and save them as user patches.

  1. Select the patch you wish to edit.
  2. Press the MENU button to enter the effect chain view.
  3. Use the navigation buttons to select an effect block.
  4. Use the control knobs to adjust the parameters of the selected effect.
  5. To save your changes, press the MENU button again, navigate to "SAVE," and press ENTER. Choose a destination patch number and confirm.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: If using batteries, replace all four AA batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Always replace with new batteries of the same type.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the unit in a cool, dry place.
