4. Operating Instructions

The Rival Crock-ette features a simple touchpad control with two settings for versatile cooking.

4.1. Cooking Process

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Prepare your ingredients as per your recipe.
  2. Add Ingredients: Place all ingredients into the stoneware pot. Do not fill the pot more than two-thirds full to prevent boiling over.
  3. Secure Lid: Place the lid securely on the stoneware pot.
  4. Plug In: Plug the slow cooker into a standard 220 Volt AC electrical outlet.
  5. Select Setting: Use the touchpad control to select your desired cooking setting. The two available settings are typically "LOW" and "HIGH". Refer to your recipe for recommended cooking times and settings.
  6. Cooking: Allow the food to cook for the recommended time. Avoid lifting the lid frequently, as this releases heat and can significantly extend cooking times.
  7. Serving: Once cooking is complete, unplug the slow cooker. Carefully remove the lid, using oven mitts if necessary, as steam will be hot. Serve food directly from the stoneware pot.

4.2. General Cooking Tips

  • For best results, ensure the lid fits snugly to retain heat and moisture.
  • Root vegetables (carrots, potatoes) cook slower than meat and should be placed at the bottom of the pot.
  • Dairy products and fresh herbs should be added during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • The 1-quart capacity is ideal for single servings, small side dishes, or heating dips.

5. Care and Cleaning

Proper care and cleaning will ensure the longevity of your Rival Crock-ette Slow Cooker.

  1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the slow cooker from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Clean Stoneware Pot: The stoneware pot is not removable from the heating unit. Wash the interior of the stoneware pot with warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge or cloth. For stubborn food residue, fill the pot with warm, soapy water and let it soak for a few hours before cleaning. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Clean Lid: The lid can be washed in warm, soapy water or placed in the dishwasher.
  4. Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the heating unit with a damp cloth. Never immerse the heating unit in water or any other liquid.
  5. Drying: Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing.
  6. Dishwasher Safety: The stoneware pot is NOT dishwasher safe. The lid is dishwasher safe.
