4. Setup and Installation

The JF-2HD sub-master station is designed for surface mounting. Follow these steps for proper installation:

1. Mounting Location: Select a suitable indoor location for the sub-master station. It can be installed using a standard single-gang box or ring.
2. Wiring: Connect the sub-master station to the master station using compatible wiring. For distances up to 165 feet (50 meters), use 22 AWG wire. For distances up to 330 feet (100 meters), use 18 AWG wire. Aiphone 871804 wire (sold separately) is compatible. Refer to the wiring diagram provided with your master station for specific connection points.
3. Secure Connections: Ensure all wiring connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.
4. Mounting the Unit: Secure the JF-2HD unit to the wall using the provided mounting hardware.
5. Power Restoration: Once all connections are made and the unit is securely mounted, restore power to the intercom system at the circuit breaker.

5. Operating Instructions

The JF-2HD Sub-Master Station provides various functions for communication and access control within your intercom system.

• Answering Calls: When an incoming call is received from the door station, the 3.5-inch LCD color monitor activates, displaying the visitor. To answer, you can either press and hold the answering button for push-to-talk communication or tap the answering button for hands-free communication.
• Monitoring: Press the monitor button at any time to view video and listen to audio from the door station without initiating a call.
• Door Release: The door-release button activates an electric strike (sold separately) to remotely unlock the entrance for a visitor. If two door stations are connected to the system with an Aiphone RY-3DL adapter (sold separately), you can select which connected door to release.
• Image Recording: The sub-master operator can record images from the monitor onto the master station's internal memory. Up to 50 images can be recorded at a time, with each image containing 8 frames captured over 8 seconds. Up to 10 images can be saved permanently to the master station's memory.
• Audio Memos: Access audio memos for internal reminders or replay audio recordings saved on the master station through the door station when personal communication is not possible or preferred.
• Volume Adjustment: Adjust the chime and audio volume using the dedicated controls on the unit.
• Communication with Master Station: Press the call button to initiate audio communication with the connected master station.

• Cleaning: Clean the unit's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
