3.1. Front Panel Layout
- Display: 4.3-inch (480x272) TFT color LCD for call information, menus, and applications.
- Line Keys: Six dual-color line keys supporting up to 6 SIP accounts.
- Soft Keys: Five programmable context-sensitive soft keys below the display.
- Navigation Cluster: Up, Down, Left, Right, and OK buttons for menu navigation.
- Numeric Keypad: Standard 0-9, *, # keys for dialing.

4. Setup
4.1. Assembling the Phone
- Attach the phone stand to the back of the phone unit.
- Connect the coiled cord to the handset and the handset port on the phone.
4.2. Connecting to the Network and Power
- Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the phone and the other end to a network switch/hub or router.
- If using Power over Ethernet (PoE), the phone will power on automatically.
- If PoE is not available, connect the universal power supply to the power port on the phone and then to a power outlet.
- (Optional) Connect a computer to the PC port on the phone using another Ethernet cable.
4.3. Initial Configuration
Upon initial boot-up, the phone will attempt to obtain network settings via DHCP. You may need to configure SIP account details via the phone's web interface or through automated provisioning (TR-069 or AES encrypted XML configuration file).
- To access the web interface, find the phone's IP address on the display (Menu > Status > Network Status). Enter this IP address into a web browser on a computer connected to the same network.
- The default username is "admin" and the default password is "admin".
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Making a Call
- Pick up the handset, press the Speakerphone button, or press an available Line key.
- Dial the desired number.
- Press the "Send" soft key or the "Send/Redial" button.
5.2. Answering a Call
When the phone rings:
- Pick up the handset.
- Press the Speakerphone button.
- Press the corresponding flashing Line key.
5.3. Call Features
- Hold: Press the Hold button during an active call. Press the Line key again to resume.
- Transfer: Press the Transfer button, dial the new number, then press the "Transfer" soft key.
- Conference: Press the Conference button during an active call, dial the second party, and once connected, press the "Conference" soft key again to join all parties.
- Mute: Press the Mute button to mute your microphone. Press again to unmute.
- Volume Adjustment: Use the Volume buttons to adjust handset, headset, or speakerphone volume.
5.4. Bluetooth Functionality
The GXP2160 supports Bluetooth for connecting compatible headsets or mobile devices.
- Navigate to Menu > Bluetooth.
- Enable Bluetooth and scan for devices.
- Select your device and pair it.

8. Troubleshooting
8.1. No Power
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the phone and a working power outlet.
- If using PoE, verify that the Ethernet cable is connected to a PoE-enabled port on your network switch and that PoE is active.
- Try a different power outlet or Ethernet port.
8.2. No Dial Tone / Cannot Make Calls
- Check network cable connections to the LAN port.
- Verify that the phone has obtained an IP address (Menu > Status > Network Status).
- Ensure your SIP account(s) are correctly configured and registered (check line key status – typically solid green indicates registered).
- Contact your VoIP service provider or system administrator for account registration issues.
8.3. Poor Call Quality
- Check your network connection speed and stability.
- Ensure there is no network congestion.
- Verify that Quality of Service (QoS) settings are properly configured on your network and phone.
- Test with a different handset or headset if applicable.
9. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your GXP2160 IP Phone:
- Keep the phone clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Do not expose the phone to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the device.
- Regularly check for firmware updates from Grandstream to benefit from performance improvements and new features.
