Control Knobs
- Volume: Adjusts the overall output level of the pedal.
- Drive: Controls the amount of overdrive or distortion applied to the signal.
- Focus: This unique control adjusts the sensitivity to touch and playing dynamics, allowing you to fine-tune how the pedal reacts to your picking attack.
Footswitch
- True Bypass Footswitch: Engages or disengages the effect. When disengaged, the signal passes through the pedal without any tonal alteration. The indicator LED illuminates when the effect is active.
Connections

This image shows the side of the JF-36 pedal, highlighting the IN and OUT audio jacks and the DC 9V power input.
- IN Jack: 1/4-inch mono input jack for connecting your guitar.
- OUT Jack: 1/4-inch mono output jack for connecting to your amplifier or other effects pedals.
- DC 9V: Power input for a 9V DC adapter (center negative).
6. Setup
Power Supply
The JF-36 pedal requires a 9V DC power supply with a center-negative polarity. It can also be powered by a 9V battery. To install a battery, unscrew the back plate of the pedal.
Connecting the Pedal
- Connect your guitar to the IN jack of the JF-36 pedal using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
- Connect the OUT jack of the JF-36 pedal to your amplifier's input or to the input of another effects pedal in your signal chain using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
- Connect a 9V DC (center negative) power adapter to the DC 9V input, or ensure a 9V battery is correctly installed.
- Turn on your amplifier.
7. Operation
Engaging the Effect
Press the footswitch to engage the overdrive effect. The indicator LED will illuminate when the effect is active. Press the footswitch again to bypass the effect.
Adjusting the Tone
- Start with the Volume knob at a moderate level.
- Adjust the Drive knob to control the amount of overdrive. Lower settings provide a subtle boost or light breakup, while higher settings offer more pronounced overdrive.
- Experiment with the Focus knob to find the desired touch sensitivity and dynamic response. This control allows the pedal to react differently to your picking strength, from subtle to more aggressive overdrive.
Dynamic Overdrive
The Sweet Baby Overdrive is designed to be dynamic. Lighter picking will result in a cleaner tone, while harder picking will introduce more overdrive. The Focus knob further refines this dynamic interaction.
8. Maintenance
- Clean the pedal's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Regularly check all cable connections for secure fit.
- If using a battery, replace it when the indicator LED dims or the sound quality degrades. Disconnect the input jack when not in use to conserve battery life.
- Store the pedal in a dry environment away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
9. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound | Incorrect connections | Check all cables (guitar to IN, OUT to amp) are securely connected. |
| No sound | No power | Ensure 9V DC adapter is connected and functional, or replace 9V battery. |
| No effect | Pedal bypassed | Press the footswitch to engage the effect (LED should illuminate). |
| Weak or distorted sound | Low battery | Replace 9V battery or use a power adapter. |
| Unwanted noise | Power supply issues | Use a regulated, isolated 9V DC power supply. |
