Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the HCDZ Replacement Remote Control, designed for use with Optoma EX542I, TX779, and EX779 DLP Projectors. This is an infrared (IR) replacement remote control that requires no programming. Simply insert batteries, and it is ready for use.

Setup

Battery Installation

The remote control requires two (2) AAA batteries (not included). Follow these steps to install the batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
  2. Slide the battery compartment cover downwards or press the latch and lift to open.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals align correctly with the markings inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover by sliding it back into place until it clicks securely.

Important Safety Information:

  • Do not mix old and new batteries.
  • Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
  • Remove batteries if the remote control will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage and corrosion.

Operating Instructions

Once batteries are installed, the remote control is ready for immediate use with compatible Optoma projectors.

  1. Point the remote control directly towards the infrared (IR) sensor on your Optoma projector.
  2. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the projector's IR sensor.
  3. Press the desired function button on the remote control to operate your projector.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your remote control, observe the following:

  • Storage: Do not leave the remote control in extremely hot or humid environments.
  • Exposure: Avoid exposing the remote sensor to direct sunlight or strong artificial lighting, as this may cause malfunction.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the remote control with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Battery Removal: If the remote control will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent potential damage from leakage and corrosion.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your remote control, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Remote Control Malfunctions:
    • Replace the remote control batteries with fresh ones.
    • Check battery terminals to ensure they are clean and making proper contact.
  • Remote is Unresponsive or Out of Range:
    • Move closer to the projector.
    • Remove any physical obstructions between the remote control and the projector's IR sensor.
  • Projector Not Responding:
    • Ensure the power cord to your projector is securely plugged in and the projector is turned on.
