1. Introduction

3. Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the colony counter from its packaging. Retain all packaging materials for future transport or storage.
2. Placement: Place the unit on a stable, level, and vibration-free surface in a clean laboratory environment. Ensure adequate space around the unit for operation and ventilation.
3. Power Connection: Connect the power cord to the power input on the back of the unit, then plug it into a suitable electrical outlet (refer to specifications for voltage requirements).

4. Operating Instructions

1. Power On: Flip the main power switch (电源) to the 'ON' position. The digital display should illuminate.
2. Activate Light Source: Press the 'Light Source' (灯源) button to turn on the illumination for the counting plate. Adjust the flexible arm to position the magnifying lamp over the counting area.
3. Place Petri Dish: Place the petri dish containing the bacterial colonies onto the counting plate.
4. Adjust Magnification: The unit provides 5X and 10X optical magnification. Position the magnifying lens for optimal viewing of the colonies.
5. Reset Counter: Before starting a new count, press the 'Reset' (归零) button to clear the display to '000'.
6. Counting Colonies: Use the counting probe to gently touch each colony on the petri dish. Each touch will increment the digital display by one. A voice prompt will confirm each count if the 'Voice' (声音) function is enabled.
7. Record Count: Once all colonies have been counted, record the final number displayed. The counting scope is 0-999.
8. Power Off: After use, turn off the light source and then the main power switch.

5. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Regularly clean the counting plate and magnifying lens with a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild cleaning solution suitable for optical surfaces. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
• Probe Care: Handle the counting probe with care. Ensure it is clean and free from debris. Replace if damaged or worn.
• General Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth. Do not allow liquids to enter the internal components.
• Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the unit in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably in its original packaging.

6. Troubleshooting

• Unit does not power on:
  • Check if the power cord is securely connected to both the unit and the electrical outlet.
  • Verify that the power outlet is functional.
  • Ensure the main power switch is in the 'ON' position.
• Digital display is blank or incorrect:
  • Ensure the unit is powered on.
  • Press the 'Reset' button to clear any previous count.
  • If the issue persists, power cycle the unit (turn off, wait 10 seconds, then turn on).
• Counting probe not registering counts:
  • Ensure the probe is firmly connected to its port.
  • Check the probe tip for damage or debris.
  • Ensure you are making firm, distinct touches on the colonies.
• Illumination not working:
  • Press the 'Light Source' button to activate illumination.
  • Check if the bulb needs replacement (refer to service manual or contact support).
