ASA Electronics WVRXCAM1 Digital Wireless Camera and Receiver User Manual
Comprehensive guide for installation, operation, and maintenance.
1. Product Overview
The ASA Electronics WVRXCAM1 is a digital wireless camera and receiver system designed to easily add a digital wireless camera to your existing factory-installed monitor. This system utilizes WiSight technology to establish a strong, interference-free digital connection between the camera and receiver, making it ideal for applications such as RVs where running cables can be challenging.
The system eliminates the need for a physical cable connecting the camera to the monitor, offering a convenient and robust solution for vehicle observation.
2. Key Features
- Easy Installation: Designed for straightforward setup.
- Wireless Connectivity: Utilizes WiSight technology for a strong, interference-free digital signal.
- Power Source: Camera connects to vehicle running lights or other 12 Volt DC power sources.
- Monitor Compatibility: Works with existing observation monitors using an adapter harness (sold separately).
- Robust Design: Operating temperature range from -4°F to 149°F, storage from -40°F to 185°F, and IPX6 waterproof rating.
3. System Components
The WVRXCAM1 system includes the following main components:
- Digital Wireless Camera with integrated antenna.

4. Installation Guide
4.1 Safety Precautions
- Always disconnect vehicle battery power before beginning installation to prevent electrical shorts.
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent water ingress and corrosion.
- Mount components in locations that do not obstruct driver visibility or vehicle operation.
4.2 Camera Installation
- Select a suitable mounting location for the camera, typically at the rear of the vehicle, ensuring a clear view and protection from physical damage.
- Securely mount the camera using appropriate hardware.
- Connect the camera's power cable to a 12 Volt DC power source. This can be the vehicle's running lights, reverse lights, or another switched 12V source. Ensure proper polarity (red to positive, black to negative/ground).
- Route the camera cable safely, avoiding sharp edges, moving parts, and heat sources.
4.3 Receiver Module Installation
- Mount the digital wireless receiver module in a secure, dry location within range of your existing observation monitor. The 3M Dual Lock pads can be used for mounting on flat surfaces.
- Connect the receiver module's power cable to a 12 Volt DC power source.
- Connect the receiver module's video output to your existing observation monitor. An adapter harness (sold separately) may be required depending on your monitor's input type.
- Ensure the antennas on both the camera and receiver are positioned for optimal signal reception, avoiding obstructions.
5. Operation
Once installed and powered, the ASA Electronics WVRXCAM1 system will automatically establish a digital wireless connection between the camera and the receiver using WiSight technology. The camera's video feed will then be transmitted to your connected observation monitor.
- Power On: Ensure both the camera and receiver are receiving power.
- Monitor Selection: Select the correct video input channel on your observation monitor to view the camera feed.
- Image Orientation: The camera provides a mirror (reversed) image, which is standard for rear-view applications.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your WVRXCAM1 system.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the camera lens with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, or water spots that may obstruct the view. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Connection Check: Annually inspect all cable connections for signs of wear, corrosion, or looseness. Re-secure or replace as necessary.
- Mounting Security: Verify that the camera and receiver are still securely mounted and have not come loose due to vehicle vibrations.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your WVRXCAM1 system, refer to the following troubleshooting steps:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No image on monitor. | No power to camera or receiver; incorrect monitor input selected; signal interference; loose connections. |
|
| Poor or intermittent image quality. | Weak signal; interference from other wireless devices; dirty camera lens; low power. |
|
| Connector mismatch between receiver and harness. | Manufacturing inconsistency. | Note: Some users have reported issues where the wireless receiver connector does not fit the corresponding connector on the included cable harness. If you encounter this, please contact ASA Electronics customer support for assistance. Do not attempt to force connections or modify connectors, as this may void your warranty. |
