1. Introduction

2. What's in the Box

Upon unboxing your Harman/Kardon Esquire, please ensure all the following components are present:

4. Setup

4.1. Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the Esquire speaker. Connect the supplied USB cable to the speaker's charging port and the other end to the 3-port USB adapter. Plug the adapter into a power outlet. The charging indicator lights will illuminate, indicating the charging status. A full charge takes approximately 5 hours.

4.2. Powering On/Off

To power on the Esquire, press and hold the Power button () located on the side panel until the indicator lights illuminate. To power off, press and hold the Power button again until the lights turn off.

4.3. Bluetooth Pairing

  1. Ensure the Esquire is powered on.
  2. Press the Bluetooth button () on the side panel. The Bluetooth indicator light will flash, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  3. On your smartphone or tablet, navigate to the Bluetooth settings and select "Harman/Kardon Esquire" from the list of available devices.
  4. Once paired, the Bluetooth indicator light will glow solid.

4.4. NFC Pairing (Near Field Communication)

If your device supports NFC, you can pair it by simply tapping your NFC-enabled device against the NFC logo on the Esquire speaker. Follow the on-screen prompts on your device to complete the pairing process.

4.5. Auxiliary Connection

For devices without Bluetooth, connect them using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) to the Aux-in port on the side of the Esquire speaker. The speaker will automatically switch to auxiliary input mode.

5. Operating the Esquire

5.1. Music Playback

Once connected via Bluetooth or Aux-in, you can control music playback directly from your source device. Use the volume buttons on the Esquire to adjust the speaker's output volume.

5.2. Hands-Free Calling and Conference System

The Esquire's built-in microphone system allows for clear hands-free calls. When a call comes in, music playback will pause. Press the Call button (📞) to answer or end a call. The intelligent orientation identification and echo/noise reduction technology ensure clear communication for all participants in a conference call.

5.3. Controls

The Esquire features intuitive controls on its side panel:

  • Power Button (⏻): Press and hold to turn the speaker on or off.
  • Bluetooth Button (Ⓑ): Press to enter Bluetooth pairing mode.
  • Volume Down (-): Decrease playback volume.
  • Volume Up (+): Increase playback volume.
  • Mute Button (🔇): Mute or unmute the microphone during a call.
  • Call Button (📞): Answer incoming calls or end active calls.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Harman/Kardon Esquire, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the speaker's surfaces. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals.
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the speaker in its transport case in a cool, dry place.
  • Battery Care: To preserve battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Recharge the speaker regularly, even if not in constant use.
