Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the supplied EN-EL14a Rechargeable Li-ion Battery using the MH-24 Quick Charger. Insert the battery into the charger and plug the charger into a power outlet. The charging indicator will blink during charging and turn off when charging is complete.
Attaching the Lens (if applicable)
Align the mounting mark on the lens with the lens mount mark on the camera body. Rotate the lens counter-clockwise until it clicks into place. Ensure the camera is off before attaching or detaching lenses.
Setup
Inserting a Memory Card
The Nikon D5300 supports SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. Open the memory card slot cover, insert the card with the label facing the correct direction until it clicks into place, and then close the cover.
Initial Camera Settings
