4. Setup Guide

4.1. Battery Installation and Charging

The FS-GT3C transmitter uses a rechargeable 3.7V Li-ion battery. To install or replace the battery:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the transmitter.
  2. Slide the cover open and remove it.
  3. Insert the 3.7V Li-ion battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

To charge the transmitter battery, connect the supplied USB charge cable to the transmitter's charging port and a suitable USB power source.

4.2. Receiver Binding (Pairing)

To establish communication between the transmitter and receiver, they must be bound. Refer to the specific instructions provided with your FS-GR3E receiver for the detailed binding procedure. Generally, this involves:

  1. Ensure both transmitter and receiver are powered off.
  2. Connect the bind plug to the B/VCC port on the receiver.
  3. Power on the receiver. The receiver's LED should flash rapidly.
  4. Press and hold the "BIND" button on the transmitter while powering it on.
  5. The transmitter's LCD screen will display "BINDING". Once successful, the receiver's LED will become solid, and the transmitter will return to its main screen.
  6. Release the BIND button on the transmitter, then power off both the transmitter and receiver.
  7. Remove the bind plug from the receiver.
  8. Power on the transmitter first, then the receiver. They should now be bound and communicate.

4.3. Connecting to a Computer (Simulator Port)

The FS-GT3C features a simulate port, allowing connection to a computer for use with RC simulators. This can be a valuable tool for practicing driving skills without risking damage to your RC vehicle.

  • Locate the "DSC" (Digital Simulator Connector) port on the side of the transmitter.
  • Connect a compatible USB adapter cable (sold separately) from the DSC port to your computer's USB port.
  • Install the necessary simulator software and drivers on your computer.
  • Follow the simulator software's instructions to calibrate and use the transmitter as a controller.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Basic Controls

The FS-GT3C features standard pistol-grip controls for intuitive operation:

  • Steering Wheel: Controls the steering of your RC vehicle. Turn left for left, right for right.
  • Throttle Trigger: Pull the trigger towards you for forward motion (acceleration). Push the trigger away from you for reverse motion (braking/reverse).

5.2. LCD Display and Menu Navigation

The LCD display allows access to various settings and adjustments. Use the buttons next to the screen for navigation:

  • ENTER/Confirm Key: Used to select an option or confirm a setting.
  • Return Key: Used to go back to the previous menu or cancel an action.
  • UP/DOWN Arrows: Used to navigate through menu options or adjust values.
  • END Key: Typically used to exit a menu or save settings.

5.3. Adjusting Settings (Trim, D/R, EXP, ABS)

The FS-GT3C offers several adjustable parameters to fine-tune your vehicle's performance:

  • TRIM (Steering Trim / Throttle Trim): Adjusts the neutral position of steering or throttle. Use the dedicated trim levers or buttons.
  • D/R (Dual Rate): Adjusts the maximum steering angle. Useful for limiting steering throw for different driving conditions or skill levels.
  • EXP (Exponential): Modifies the sensitivity of the steering or throttle around the center point. A higher exponential value makes the control less sensitive around the center.
  • ABS (Anti-lock Brake System): Simulates ABS braking by pulsing the brakes, preventing wheel lock-up during hard braking.

5.4. Channel Settings

The FS-GT3C is a 3-channel transmitter. You can configure the output of each channel:

  • Channel 1 (Steering): Typically controls the steering servo.
  • Channel 2 (Throttle): Controls the motor/ESC for forward and reverse.
  • Channel 3: An auxiliary channel that can be assigned to various functions, such as lights, winches, or gear shifting, depending on your RC vehicle's setup.

6. Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your FS-GT3C transmitter:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the transmitter. Avoid using solvents or harsh chemicals.
  • Battery Care:
    • Always use the provided USB cable for charging the internal Li-ion battery.
    • Do not overcharge or deep discharge the battery.
    • If storing for extended periods, charge the battery to approximately 50% capacity.
  • Storage: Store the transmitter in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Antenna Care: Handle the antenna with care to prevent bending or breaking.

7. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions
ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power to transmitterBattery drained or incorrectly installed.Charge the battery or ensure it is installed with correct polarity.
No control over RC vehicleTransmitter and receiver not bound; receiver not powered; out of range.Perform binding procedure; check receiver power; ensure within operating range.
Erratic control or signal lossInterference; low transmitter/receiver battery; damaged antenna.Operate in an area with less interference; charge batteries; inspect antenna for damage.
Steering/Throttle not centeredTrim settings incorrect.Adjust the steering and throttle trim settings on the transmitter.
Transmitter LCD display is dim or unreadableLow battery; viewing angle.Charge the transmitter battery. Adjust viewing angle for better visibility.

The transmitter features a low voltage shut-off to protect the battery. If the voltage drops too low, the transmitter may power off automatically.
