3.3 Block Diagram

The internal block diagram illustrates the functional stages of the power supply, including EMI filter, active inrush current limiting, PFC control, power switching, rectifiers, filters, and protection circuits (O.T.P., O.L.P., O.V.P.).

3.4 Derating Curve

The derating curve indicates the maximum permissible output load as a function of ambient temperature and input voltage. Operating within these limits ensures optimal performance and longevity of the power supply.

4. Function Description

This section details the functions available via the CN100 connector, including auxiliary output, remote sense, DC-OK signal, and remote control.

Detailed function description of CN100, including remote sense and DC-OK signal diagrams for MSP-300 series power supply.

Figure 4.1: Function Description of CN100, Remote Sense, and DC-OK Signal.

4.1 CN100 Pin Functions

The following table provides a detailed description of each pin on the CN100 connector:

Pin No.FunctionDescription
1AUXAuxiliary voltage output, 4.75~5.25V, reference to pin 2 (AUXG). The maximum load current is 0.3A. This output has the built-in oring diodes and can be controlled by the remote ON/OFF control.
2AUXGAuxiliary voltage output ground. This output return is isolated from the output terminals (+V & -V).
3DC-OKDC-OK signal is a TTL level signal, referenced to pin 5 (DC-OK GND). High when PSU turns on.
4RCRemote control ground.
5GNDThis is connected to the negative terminal(-V). Return for DC-OK signal output.
6RC+Turns the output on and off by electrical or dry contact between pin 4 (RC-), Short: Power OFF, Open: Power ON.
7+SPositive sensing. The +S signal should be connected to the positive terminal of the load. The +S and -S leads should be twisted in pair to minimize noise pick-up effect. The maximum line drop compensation is 0.5V.
8-SNegative sensing. The -S signal should be connected to the negative terminal of the load. The +S and -S leads should be twisted in pair to minimize noise pick-up effect. The maximum line drop compensation is 0.5V.

4.2 Remote Sense

The remote sensing function compensates for voltage drop across the load wiring, ensuring accurate voltage delivery at the load. Connect the +S and -S pins to the positive and negative terminals of the load, respectively. The maximum line drop compensation is 0.5V.

4.3 DC-OK Signal

The DC-OK signal is a TTL level output that indicates the status of the power supply's DC output. It is referenced to pin 5 (DC-OK GND) and goes high when the PSU is operating normally.

Between DC-OK(pin3) and GND(pin5)Output Status
3.3 ~ 5.6VON
0 ~ 1VOFF

SW OFF (Open)ON

6. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your MSP-300-24 power supply:

  1. Mounting: Securely mount the power supply in a well-ventilated area, ensuring adequate clearance for airflow around the unit. Refer to the mechanical specifications for dimensions and mounting hole locations.
  2. AC Input Connection: Connect the AC mains input wires to the L (Live), N (Neutral), and FG (Frame Ground) terminals on the main terminal block according to the pin assignment in Section 3.1. Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
  3. DC Output Connection: Connect the DC load wires to the +V and -V terminals on the main terminal block. Observe correct polarity.
  4. Auxiliary Connections (Optional): If using remote sense, DC-OK signal, or remote ON/OFF control, connect the appropriate wires to the CN100 connector as detailed in Sections 4 and 5.
  5. Initial Check: Before applying power, double-check all wiring for correctness, polarity, and secure connections. Ensure no loose strands could cause short circuits.
  6. Power On: Apply AC power. The LED indicator should illuminate, indicating the unit is powered on.

7. Operation

Once installed, the MSP-300-24 operates automatically. The output voltage is regulated at 24V. The built-in protections (short circuit, overload, over voltage, over temperature) will activate to protect the unit and connected equipment in case of abnormal conditions.

8. Maintenance

The MSP-300-24 is designed for reliable operation with minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can help ensure its longevity and performance.

Note: There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
