1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Vigor V3441 Torque Wrench. This high-quality mechanical torque wrench is designed for precise tightening of fasteners within a range of 40-200 Nm. Manufactured from chrome steel and tested in Germany, it meets high technical quality standards, ensuring reliability and durability for various applications, including automotive and machinery maintenance. Please read this manual carefully before use to ensure safe and effective operation.
2. Safety Information
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses, when using tools.
- Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped or supported before applying torque.
- Do not exceed the maximum torque capacity of 200 Nm.
- Do not use the torque wrench as a breaker bar or for loosening seized fasteners.
- Keep the tool clean and free from oil or grease to maintain a secure grip.
- Store the torque wrench in a dry, safe place, away from children.
- After each use, always reset the torque setting to the lowest value (40 Nm) to relieve spring tension and maintain calibration accuracy.
3. Product Overview
The Vigor V3441 Torque Wrench features a robust design for accurate torque application. It includes a clear scale for setting desired torque values and a comfortable handle for optimal grip.

Figure 3.1: Close-up view of the torque wrench's adjustment scale and locking mechanism. The scale displays torque values in both Newton-meters (Nm) and pound-feet (lbf.ft), allowing for precise setting of the desired torque.

4. Setup
- Unpack: Carefully remove the torque wrench from its packaging.
- Inspect: Check the tool for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
- Unlock Adjustment: Locate the locking mechanism (often a knurled ring or knob at the base of the handle). Rotate or pull it to unlock the torque setting.
- Set Torque: Rotate the handle to align the desired torque value on the main scale with the zero mark on the micrometer scale. For example, to set 100 Nm, rotate the handle until the '100' mark on the main scale aligns with the indicator line, and the '0' mark on the micrometer scale aligns with the indicator line. For intermediate values, continue rotating the micrometer scale until the desired fine adjustment is reached (e.g., for 105 Nm, set to 100 Nm on the main scale, then rotate the micrometer scale to '5').
- Lock Adjustment: Once the desired torque is set, engage the locking mechanism to prevent accidental changes during use.
- Attach Socket: Select the appropriate socket for your fastener and attach it securely to the square drive head of the torque wrench.
5. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for accurate torque application:
- Prepare Fastener: Ensure the fastener threads are clean and lubricated as specified by the manufacturer (if applicable).
- Position Wrench: Place the socket onto the fastener. Hold the torque wrench by the handle, ensuring a firm and steady grip.
- Apply Torque: Apply smooth, steady pressure to the handle in a clockwise direction (for right-hand threads) until you feel and hear a distinct "click" or "break" in the handle. This indicates that the preset torque has been reached.
- Stop Application: Immediately stop applying force once the click is felt/heard. Do not continue to tighten the fastener beyond this point.
- Remove Wrench: Remove the torque wrench from the fastener.
- Reset: After completing your work, always reset the torque wrench to its lowest setting (40 Nm) before storing it. This preserves the calibration of the internal spring mechanism.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the torque wrench clean with a soft, dry cloth after each use. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents that could damage the finish or markings.
- Lubrication: The internal mechanism is factory lubricated. Do not attempt to lubricate internal components unless specifically instructed by a qualified technician.
- Storage: Store the torque wrench in its protective case in a dry, temperature-controlled environment. Always reset the torque setting to the lowest value (40 Nm) before storage to prevent spring fatigue.
- Calibration: Torque wrenches are precision instruments and should be periodically checked for calibration accuracy by a qualified service center, especially after heavy use or if dropped.
7. Troubleshooting
Problem: Inaccurate Torque Readings
- Possible Cause: Incorrect setting. Solution: Double-check that the torque value is correctly set and locked.
- Possible Cause: Improper technique. Solution: Ensure smooth, steady pressure is applied and stop immediately after the click.
- Possible Cause: Wrench out of calibration. Solution: Have the wrench professionally calibrated.
- Possible Cause: Fastener condition. Solution: Ensure threads are clean and lubricated as required.
Problem: Difficulty Setting Torque
- Possible Cause: Locking mechanism engaged. Solution: Ensure the locking mechanism is fully disengaged before attempting to adjust the torque.
- Possible Cause: Dirt or debris. Solution: Clean the adjustment mechanism area.
Problem: No Audible/Tactile Click
- Possible Cause: Torque setting too low or too high for the application. Solution: Verify the required torque for the fastener.
- Possible Cause: Wrench malfunction. Solution: Discontinue use and have the wrench inspected by a qualified technician.
