- Connect power from your power supply to the storage devices.
6. Connect Front Panel and I/O
Connect the various cables from your PC case to the motherboard headers.
- Front Panel Connectors: Power button, reset button, HDD LED, power LED. Refer to the motherboard's silkscreen labels for correct polarity and pin assignment.
- USB Headers: Connect front panel USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports. The motherboard has headers for 4x USB 2.0 and 2x USB 3.0 ports.
- Audio Header: Connect front panel audio jacks.
- Power Connectors: Connect the 24-pin ATX power connector and the 8-pin (or 4-pin) CPU power connector from your power supply to the motherboard.
7. Install Motherboard into Case
- Install the I/O shield into the rear opening of your PC case.
- Carefully place the motherboard into the case, aligning it with the standoffs.
- Secure the motherboard with screws.
Operating Your System
Once all components are installed and connected, you can power on your system.
BIOS/UEFI Setup
Upon first boot, or if you encounter issues, you may need to enter the BIOS/UEFI setup utility. Typically, you can access this by pressing the DEL or F2 key during the system's power-on self-test (POST).
- Boot Order: Configure the boot order to prioritize your operating system drive.
- System Time/Date: Set the correct system time and date.
- SATA Mode: Ensure SATA mode is set to AHCI for optimal performance with SSDs and modern operating systems.
- Fan Control: Adjust fan speeds for optimal cooling and noise levels.
Driver Installation
After installing your operating system, install the necessary drivers for the motherboard's components. These typically include:
- Chipset Drivers
- LAN (Ethernet) Drivers
- Audio Drivers
- USB 3.0 Drivers (if not natively supported by OS)
- Integrated Graphics Drivers (if using onboard video outputs)
Drivers can usually be found on the Biostar official website or on the driver CD included with the motherboard (if applicable).
