Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Open the battery compartment cover located on the back of the monitor.
- Insert the four (4) AA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Choosing and Attaching the Cuff
The Braun ExactFit 5 comes with two cuffs to ensure an accurate fit for various arm sizes:
- Small Cuff (S): For arm circumferences between 22 cm and 32 cm.
- Standard/Large Cuff (M/L): For arm circumferences between 32 cm and 42 cm.
Measure your upper arm circumference to select the appropriate cuff. An incorrect cuff size can lead to inaccurate readings.
- Connect the air tube of the selected cuff firmly into the air jack on the side of the monitor.
- Ensure the connection is secure to prevent air leakage during measurement.
Operating Instructions
1. Preparation for Measurement
- Sit comfortably in a chair with your back supported and feet flat on the floor.
- Rest your arm on a table so the cuff is at heart level.
- Relax for 5 minutes before taking a measurement.
- Avoid talking, moving, or eating during the measurement.
- Do not take measurements immediately after consuming caffeine, alcohol, or tobacco, or after exercise or bathing.
2. Applying the Cuff
- Remove any tight-fitting clothing from your upper arm.
- Slide the cuff onto your bare upper arm, ensuring the air tube points towards your hand.
- Position the cuff so its lower edge is approximately 2-3 cm above your elbow joint.
- Tighten the cuff snugly around your arm using the hook-and-loop fastener. It should be tight enough that you can barely slide two fingers underneath.

3. Taking a Measurement

- Remain still and silent during the measurement.
- Once the measurement is complete, the cuff will deflate, and your systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and pulse rate will be displayed on the screen.

4. Understanding Your Readings
The display shows three main values:
- SYS (Systolic Pressure): The highest pressure in your arteries when your heart beats.
- DIA (Diastolic Pressure): The lowest pressure in your arteries when your heart rests between beats.
- PUL (Pulse Rate): Your heart rate, measured in beats per minute.
The monitor also features a color-coded indicator on the side of the display, which helps you interpret your blood pressure readings according to World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. Consult your doctor for a full interpretation of your readings.
