Care and Maintenance
Daily Cleaning:
- Always unplug the coffee maker and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wash the glass carafe and permanent filter basket in warm, soapy water. These parts are also dishwasher safe on the top rack.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- The warming plate is stain-resistant and non-stick; wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
Descaling (Auto-Clean Cycle):
Mineral deposits from water can build up over time and affect the performance of your coffee maker. It is recommended to descale your coffee maker monthly, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Prepare Solution: Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts cold water.
- Start Auto-Clean: Place the empty carafe on the warming plate. Refer to your control panel for the "Clean" or "Auto-Clean" button. Press and hold this button (or follow specific instructions for your model) to initiate the cleaning cycle.
- Rinse Cycles: After the cleaning cycle is complete, discard the vinegar solution. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and run 2-3 full brew cycles (without coffee) to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
