3. Setup

3.1 Installing the Sanding Belt

  1. Ensure the sander is unplugged from the power source before attempting any adjustments or belt changes.
  2. Locate the quick belt change button or lever on the side of the sander. Press or lift it to release the tension on the sanding belt.

  4. Remove the old sanding belt.
  5. Slide the new sanding belt onto the rollers, ensuring the arrows on the inside of the belt match the direction of rotation indicated on the sander.
  6. Release the quick belt change button/lever to tension the new belt.
  7. Use the precise belt adjustment selector to center the belt on the rollers. This prevents the belt from running off the side during operation.

3.2 Attaching the Dust Bag

  1. Locate the dust extraction port on the sander.
  2. Attach the provided dust bag securely to the extraction port. Ensure it is firmly connected to prevent dust leakage.

  4. Regularly empty the dust bag to maintain optimal dust collection efficiency and prevent clogging.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Safety Precautions

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, and a dust mask.
  • Ensure your work area is well-lit and clear of obstructions.
  • Secure the workpiece firmly to prevent movement during sanding.
  • Never operate the sander with a damaged or incorrectly installed sanding belt.

4.2 Powering On and Off

  1. Plug the sander into a suitable 220V power outlet.
  2. To start the sander, press the ON/OFF trigger.
  3. For continuous operation, press the lock-on button while the trigger is engaged. This allows the sander to run without constant pressure on the trigger.
  4. To turn off the sander, release the trigger. If the lock-on button is engaged, press the trigger again to release the lock and then release the trigger.

4.3 Adjusting Speed

  1. The SB90 features a variable speed control dial. Rotate the dial to select the desired belt speed.

  3. Lower speeds are suitable for fine finishing and heat-sensitive materials, while higher speeds are ideal for rapid material removal.

4.4 Sanding Technique

  1. Hold the sander firmly with both hands, utilizing the main and auxiliary handles for control.
  2. Place the sander flat on the workpiece before turning it on.
  3. Move the sander smoothly and evenly across the surface, following the grain of the wood. Avoid applying excessive pressure, as the weight of the tool is usually sufficient.
  4. Lift the sander off the workpiece before turning it off.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Always unplug the sander before cleaning.
  • Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean dust and debris from the ventilation openings and around the sanding belt area.
  • Wipe the exterior of the tool with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

5.2 Dust Bag Maintenance

  • Empty the dust bag frequently to maintain effective dust collection.
  • If the dust bag becomes clogged or damaged, clean or replace it as necessary.

5.3 Belt and Roller Inspection

  • Regularly inspect the sanding belt for wear, tears, or clogging. Replace worn belts promptly.
  • Check the rollers for any damage or excessive wear. Ensure they rotate freely.
