How to Play
The objective of Monopoly Junior is to be the player with the most money when another player runs out of money.
Game Flow
- The youngest player goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.
- On your turn, roll the die and move your token that many spaces clockwise.
- Follow the instructions on the space you land on.
- If you pass or land on GO, collect 2 Monopoly Dollars from the bank.
Actions on Spaces
- Unowned Property: If you land on an unowned property, you must buy it. Pay the price shown on the space to the bank. Place one of your Sold signs on the property to show you own it.
- Owned Property: If you land on a property owned by another player, you must pay them rent. The rent amount is shown on the property space. If a player owns both properties of the same color, the rent is doubled.
- Chance Space: Draw the top Chance card and follow its instructions. Some cards may require you to pay money, move to a different space, or receive money. Return the card to the bottom of the deck after use.
- Go to Jail: If you land on this space, immediately move your token to the Jail space. On your next turn, pay 1 Monopoly Dollar to the bank to get out of Jail, then roll the die and move.
- Just Visiting (Jail): If you land on the Jail space, you are just visiting and do not pay anything. You can move on your next turn as normal.
- Free Parking: If you land on Free Parking, nothing happens. It is a safe space.
Ending the Game
The game ends when a player runs out of money and cannot pay what they owe (whether for a property, rent, or a Chance card fee). The remaining players count their money. The player with the most Monopoly Dollars wins the game!
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity of your Monopoly Junior game:
- Store all game components in the original box when not in use to prevent loss or damage.
- Keep the game board and cards away from moisture and direct sunlight.
- Clean components with a dry, soft cloth if necessary. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
Troubleshooting
Common questions and solutions for Monopoly Junior:
- Game ends too quickly: The game is designed to be fast-paced for younger players. If you wish for a longer game, you can experiment with starting each player with a slightly higher amount of Monopoly Dollars, ensuring the bank still has enough funds.
- My child finds the game too simple: Monopoly Junior is specifically designed with simplified rules and single banknotes for children aged 5 and up. For older children or those ready for more complexity, consider transitioning to the classic Monopoly game.
- Missing components: Carefully check the box and packaging. If components are genuinely missing, refer to the Warranty and Support section for how to contact the manufacturer.
