It is designed for ease of use, allowing for quick and secure connections in various plumbing applications.

2. Product Features

  • Versatile Connection: Connects 1-1/4 inch or 1-1/2 inch tubular traps to standard 2-inch drain piping.
  • Easy Installation: Designed for quick and simple installation without the need for special tools, adhesives, or soldering.
  • Durable Clamps: Equipped with rustproof stainless steel clamps for a secure and long-lasting seal.
  • Flexible Design: Made from durable, flexible material to accommodate minor misalignments.

3. Safety Information

Adhering to safety guidelines is crucial when performing any plumbing work. Please observe the following precautions:

  • Always shut off the main water supply before commencing any plumbing installation or repair.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves, to prevent injury.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation in your work area, especially in confined spaces.
  • If you are uncertain about any step of the installation process, consult a qualified plumber.
  • Keep small parts away from children to prevent choking hazards.

4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your Fernco DTC-215 Drain Trap Connector:

  1. Prepare the Pipes: Ensure that the ends of both the tubular trap (1-1/4" or 1-1/2") and the 2-inch drain pipe are clean, dry, and free from any burrs or debris.
  2. Position the Connector: Slide one end of the Fernco DTC-215 connector over the tubular trap and the other end over the 2-inch drain pipe. Ensure that both pipes are fully inserted into the connector for a proper seal.
  3. Tighten Clamps: Using a screwdriver or a nut driver, securely tighten the rustproof stainless steel clamps on both ends of the connector. Tighten until snug, but avoid overtightening, which could damage the connector or pipes.
  4. Test for Leaks: Once the connector is securely in place, slowly turn on the main water supply. Carefully inspect the connection points for any signs of leaks. If leaks are detected, tighten the clamps further or adjust the connector's position and re-tighten.

Important Note: The DTC-215 is not suitable for 2-inch copper piping. For 2-inch copper applications, please use the Fernco DTC-150 connector.

Its design allows for slight movement and vibration without compromising the integrity of the plumbing system. The robust clamps ensure that the connection remains secure under normal operating conditions, facilitating efficient wastewater drainage.

6. Maintenance

The Fernco DTC-215 Drain Trap Connector requires minimal maintenance. Regular visual inspections are recommended to ensure optimal performance:

  • Periodically check the connector for any visible signs of wear, cracks, or deterioration of the rubber material.
  • Inspect the clamps to ensure they remain tight and free from corrosion. Re-tighten if necessary, but do not overtighten.
  • Clean any accumulated debris or residue from around the connector to prevent potential issues.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Fernco DTC-215 connector, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Leakage at Connection Point:
    • Ensure that both clamps are sufficiently tightened.
    • Verify that the pipes are fully inserted and properly seated within the connector.
    • Confirm that the correct connector size (DTC-215) is being used for the specific pipe diameters (1-1/4" or 1-1/2" tubular to 2" drain).
    • Check for any damage to the rubber connector itself. If damaged, replacement is necessary.
  • Difficulty Achieving a Seal:
    • Ensure that the pipe ends are clean, smooth, and free of obstructions.
    • The connector should fit snugly over the pipes. If it feels too loose, verify that the correct pipe sizes are being connected.
