2. Safety Information

• Indoor Use Only: This surge protector is designed for indoor use in dry locations. Do not expose it to moisture or extreme temperatures.
• Electrical Rating: Do not exceed the electrical rating of 120V, 15 Amps. Overloading the surge protector can cause damage or fire.
• Grounding: Ensure the wall outlet is properly grounded. The surge protector requires a grounded outlet for effective protection.

4. Setup and Installation

1. Unpack the Device: Carefully remove the surge protector from its packaging.
2. Choose a Location: Select a dry, indoor location near the equipment you wish to protect. Ensure there is adequate ventilation.
3. Plug into Wall Outlet: Plug the surge protector directly into a standard 120V AC grounded wall outlet. Do not plug it into another surge protector or extension cord.
4. Check Indicators:
   • The "Protection Working" LED (blue) should illuminate, indicating that the surge protection circuitry is active.
   • The "Wiring OK" LED (blue) should illuminate, indicating that the wall outlet is properly grounded and wired.

   If either light does not illuminate, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

5. Connect AC Devices: Plug your electronic devices (TV, audio receiver, gaming console, etc.) into the six AC outlets on the surge protector.
6. Connect Coaxial Cables (Optional): If you have a cable TV, satellite, or antenna line, connect the incoming coaxial cable to the "IN" port on the surge protector. Then, connect a second coaxial cable from the "OUT" port on the surge protector to your TV or set-top box. This provides protection for your audio/video signal lines.

5. Operating Instructions

Once properly installed, the APC Audio/Video Surge Protector operates automatically. It continuously monitors incoming power and coaxial lines for dangerous surges and spikes. In the event of an overvoltage condition, the surge protector will divert excess energy away from your connected equipment, protecting it from damage.

The illuminated outlets provide convenience for connecting devices in low-light conditions.

Understanding the Indicator Lights:

• Protection Working (Blue LED): When this light is illuminated, it indicates that the surge protection components are active and providing protection. If this light goes out, the surge protector has absorbed a significant surge and its protection capabilities may be compromised. In this case, the unit should be replaced.
• Wiring OK (Blue LED): This light indicates that the wall outlet is properly wired and grounded. If this light is not illuminated, there may be a wiring fault in your building's electrical system (e.g., missing ground). Consult a qualified electrician to inspect your wiring. The surge protector will still provide some level of protection, but optimal performance requires proper grounding.

6. Maintenance

The APC Audio/Video Surge Protector requires minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure its continued performance:

• Keep Clean: Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
• Avoid Overloading: Do not plug in appliances that draw more than the rated amperage (15 Amps total).
• Regular Checks: Periodically check the "Protection Working" and "Wiring OK" indicator lights to ensure they are illuminated.
• Replacement: If the "Protection Working" light goes out, the surge protector has likely sacrificed itself to protect your equipment. Replace the unit immediately to maintain protection.
