1. Introduction
The Etekcity Lasergrip 800 is a non-contact infrared thermometer designed for safe and accurate surface temperature measurements. This device utilizes infrared technology to provide quick readings without physical contact, making it ideal for measuring temperatures of hazardous, hard-to-reach, or moving objects. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, from cooking and home repairs to automotive maintenance.
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your Lasergrip 800 thermometer. Please read it thoroughly before operation and retain it for future reference.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: This device is not intended for measuring human or animal body temperature. Readings for living beings will not be accurate.
- Do not point the laser directly at eyes or indirectly off reflective surfaces.
- Do not use the thermometer near explosive gases, steam, or dust.
- Keep the device away from children.
- Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device.
- Ensure the battery compartment is securely closed during operation.

3. Product Overview and Package Contents
The Etekcity Lasergrip 800 features a pistol-grip design for comfortable handling and a clear LCD display for easy reading. It includes a laser pointer for precise targeting.
Package Contents:
- 1 x Etekcity Lasergrip 800 Infrared Thermometer
- 1 x 9V DC Battery
- 1 x User Manual

4. Setup
Battery Installation:
- Locate the battery compartment on the handle of the thermometer.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the included 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
The device is now ready for use.
5. Operating Instructions
Basic Operation:
- Point the thermometer at the target surface.
- Press and hold the trigger to activate the laser and begin measurement. The temperature reading will appear on the LCD in less than 0.8 seconds.
- Release the trigger to hold the reading on the display. The device will automatically shut off after 15 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.
Distance-to-Spot Ratio (DSR):
The Lasergrip 800 has a 16:1 DSR. This means that at a distance of 16 inches, the measurement area (spot) is approximately 1 inch in diameter. A higher DSR allows for more accurate measurements of smaller areas from a greater distance compared to thermometers with lower DSRs (e.g., 8:1 or 12:1).

Temperature Unit Selection:
Press the ℃/℉ button to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
Laser Targeting:
The built-in laser provides a visual guide for aiming at the desired measurement spot. Press the laser button to toggle the laser on or off.
Backlit LCD:
The LCD screen is backlit for improved visibility in low-light conditions.
Low Battery Indicator:
A low battery indicator will appear on the display when the battery needs replacement.

Note: The measuring surface is approximately 2cm below the infrared aiming point. For optimal accuracy, the recommended distance between the thermometer and the object of measurement is approximately 14.17 inches (36 cm).

6. Applications
The Etekcity Lasergrip 800 is a versatile tool for various non-contact temperature measurement needs:
- Cooking & Baking: Check oven temperatures, grill surfaces, pizza stones, and deep-frying oil.
- Home Maintenance: Identify insulation issues, check HVAC vents, and monitor appliance temperatures.
- Automotive: Measure engine components, tires, and cooling systems.
- DIY Projects: Monitor temperatures for crafts like soap making or candle pouring.
- Reptile Enclosures: Ensure appropriate temperature gradients for pets.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the device clean with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
- Storage: Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place when not in use. Remove the battery if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
- Lens Care: The infrared lens is the most delicate part of the thermometer. Clean it carefully with a soft cloth or cotton swab and water or rubbing alcohol.
8. Troubleshooting
- No Display: Check if the battery is installed correctly and has sufficient charge. Replace the 9V battery if necessary.
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the distance-to-spot ratio is respected (approx. 14.17 inches for a 1-inch spot). Avoid measuring through steam, smoke, or highly reflective surfaces. Ensure the lens is clean.
- Laser Not Working: Check battery level. If the battery is good, ensure the laser button is pressed to activate it.
- Device Not Turning On: Verify battery installation and charge. If issues persist, contact customer support.
