3.2 Initial Winding and Setting
- Unscrew the Crown: The crown is located at the 8 o'clock position. Rotate it counter-clockwise until it springs free from the case.
- Manual Winding: In position 0 (crown unscrewed but not pulled out), rotate the crown clockwise approximately 40 times to manually wind the mainspring. This provides initial power to the automatic movement.
- Setting the Time: Pull the crown out to position 2. Rotate the crown to set the hour and minute hands. Ensure the day/date changes at midnight, indicating AM/PM correctly.
- Setting the Day and Date: Pull the crown out to position 1. Rotate the crown clockwise to set the date and counter-clockwise to set the day. Avoid setting the date between 9 PM and 3 AM, as this can damage the movement.
- Secure the Crown: Once set, push the crown back into position 0 and screw it clockwise firmly against the case to ensure water resistance.
3.3 Adjusting the Strap
The polyurethane strap is designed for comfort and durability. Adjust the buckle to achieve a snug fit on your wrist. Ensure it is not too tight to restrict circulation, nor too loose to allow excessive movement.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Automatic Movement
Your watch is powered by an automatic mechanical movement. It winds itself through the motion of your arm while wearing it. If the watch is not worn for an extended period, it will stop. Refer to section 3.2 for manual winding instructions.
4.2 Unidirectional Rotating Bezel
The bezel rotates only counter-clockwise. This feature is used to measure elapsed time during a dive. Align the bezel's zero marker with the minute hand before descending. The minute hand will then indicate the elapsed time on the bezel scale. The unidirectional rotation prevents accidental increases in recorded dive time, enhancing safety.
4.3 Water Resistance (200 Meters)
This watch is ISO 6425 certified for 200 meters (660 feet) water resistance, making it suitable for professional diving. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposing the watch to water. Do not operate the crown or pushers (if present) while the watch is wet or submerged. This watch is not designed for saturation diving requiring helium gas.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
Regularly clean your watch with a soft, damp cloth. For salt water exposure, rinse the watch thoroughly with fresh water and dry it with a soft cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
5.2 Water Resistance Check
It is recommended to have the water resistance seals checked by an authorized Citizen service center every 2-3 years, or annually if the watch is frequently used for diving, to ensure optimal performance.
5.3 Avoiding Extreme Conditions
Protect your watch from extreme temperatures (above 60°C / 140°F or below 0°C / 32°F), strong magnetic fields, and severe shocks. These can affect the accuracy and longevity of the mechanical movement.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Watch Not Running
If the watch has stopped, it may require winding. Manually wind the watch by unscrewing the crown and rotating it clockwise approximately 40 times. If the issue persists after winding and wearing, contact customer support.
6.2 Inaccurate Timekeeping
Automatic watches typically have a daily variation in accuracy. Minor deviations are normal. If the watch is consistently gaining or losing a significant amount of time (e.g., more than +/- 30 seconds per day), it may require adjustment or service. Ensure the watch is adequately wound.
6.3 Fogging Under Crystal
Temporary fogging on the inside of the crystal can occur due to sudden temperature changes. If the fogging persists or appears as droplets, it may indicate a loss of water resistance. Immediately have the watch inspected by an authorized service center.
