The design prioritizes comfort for extended use, incorporating a self-adjusting leather headband and velour ear pads. With an open-back acoustic design, these headphones provide a spacious sound experience. They have a frequency response of 12 Hz to 39500 Hz and a rated impedance of 120 Ohms, capable of handling up to 200mW input power. The headphones include a 10-foot cable and a 3.5mm to 6.3mm screw-on adapter for versatile connectivity.

3.2 Connecting the Headphones

  1. Identify the audio output port on your source device (e.g., audio interface, amplifier, computer). This is typically a 3.5mm (1/8-inch) or 6.3mm (1/4-inch) jack.
  2. If your source device has a 3.5mm jack, connect the headphone's 3.5mm plug directly.
  3. If your source device has a 6.3mm jack, screw the included 3.5mm to 6.3mm adapter onto the headphone's 3.5mm plug, then insert it into the 6.3mm port.
  4. Ensure the connection is secure.

Note on Impedance: The AKG K612 PRO headphones have a 120 Ohm impedance. For optimal volume and sound quality, especially with lower-power devices, a dedicated headphone amplifier may be beneficial.

3.3 Adjusting for Comfort

The K612 PRO features a self-adjusting leather headband. Place the headphones on your head, and the headband will automatically adjust to provide a comfortable and secure fit. The velour ear pads are designed for extended wear.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Basic Listening

Once connected to your audio source, begin playback. Adjust the volume using your source device's controls. The K612 PRO headphones do not have integrated volume controls.

4.2 Understanding the Open-Back Design

The open-back design of the K612 PRO allows air to pass through the earcups, contributing to a more natural and spacious soundstage. This design also means that sound can leak out of the headphones, and you will be able to hear ambient sounds from your environment. This is normal for open-back headphones and is part of their acoustic characteristic, making them suitable for studio environments where natural sound is preferred over isolation.

4.3 Varimotion Diaphragm Technology

The patented Varimotion Diaphragm Technology contributes to the headphones' high-quality sound imaging and tonal accuracy. This technology optimizes the diaphragm's movement for precise audio reproduction across the frequency spectrum.

4.4 Over-Ear Design

The over-ear design ensures that the earcups fully enclose your ears, providing a comfortable fit and contributing to the headphones' acoustic performance. This design is intended for maximum wearing comfort during long listening sessions.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

  • Ear Pads: The velour ear pads can be gently cleaned with a soft, dry cloth. For deeper cleaning, lightly dampen a cloth with mild soap and water, wring it thoroughly, and gently wipe the surface. Allow to air dry completely before use. Do not immerse in water.
  • Headband and Arches: Wipe the leather headband and aluminum arches with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Cable: Keep the cable clean and free from kinks. Wipe with a dry cloth as needed.

5.2 Storage

Store the headphones in a clean, dry place away from extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight. Avoid placing heavy objects on the headphones to prevent damage to the headband or earcups. The non-detachable 10-foot cable should be coiled loosely to prevent tangling and stress on the connection points.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No sound or very low volume
  • Headphone plug not fully inserted.
  • Incorrect adapter used or not securely attached.
  • Source device volume too low or muted.
  • Source device output settings incorrect.
  • Insufficient power from source device (due to 120 Ohm impedance).
  • Ensure the 3.5mm plug (or 6.3mm adapter) is fully inserted into the audio output.
  • Verify the correct adapter is used and securely screwed on.
  • Increase volume on your source device and check for mute settings.
  • Check your device's audio output settings to ensure the correct output is selected.
  • Consider using a headphone amplifier for adequate power.
Distorted or poor sound quality
  • Audio source quality is low.
  • Cable damage.
  • Improper impedance matching with source.
  • Use high-quality audio files or streaming services.
  • Inspect the cable for visible damage. If damaged, contact support.
  • Ensure your audio source or amplifier can adequately drive 120 Ohm headphones.
Uncomfortable fit
  • Headphones not positioned correctly.
  • Adjust the earcups and headband to ensure they sit evenly and comfortably on your head. The self-adjusting headband should conform naturally.
