1. Introduction

The D-Link DCS-5020L Pan and Tilt Day/Night Network Camera is designed to provide comprehensive surveillance for your home or business. With its pan and tilt capabilities, you can remotely adjust the camera's viewing angle to monitor a wider area. Integrated night vision and motion detection features ensure continuous monitoring, day or night. Access and control your camera from anywhere using the free mydlink app on your smartphone or tablet.

3. Product Overview

3.1 Front View

The front of the camera features the lens, infrared (IR) LEDs for night vision, and indicator lights for WPS and Power status.

3.2 Rear View

The rear of the camera provides access to the Ethernet port for wired network connection, the power input jack, the Reset button, and the WPS button for easy wireless setup.

4. Setup

4.1 Hardware Installation

1. Placement: Choose a suitable location for your camera, such as a classroom, kitchen, living room, or office. Ensure the camera has a clear line of sight to the area you wish to monitor.
2. Mounting: The camera supports ceiling mount installation. Use the provided mounting kit to securely attach the camera to a ceiling or wall.
3. Power Connection: Connect the included AC/DC power adapter to the camera's power input jack and then plug it into a power outlet. The Power LED will illuminate.

4.2 Network Connection

The DCS-5020L supports both wired (Ethernet) and wireless (Wi-Fi) connectivity.

1. Wired Connection: For a stable connection, connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the camera's Ethernet port and the other end to an available LAN port on your router.
2. Wireless Connection (Wi-Fi):
   • WPS Setup: If your router supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), press the WPS button on your router, then immediately press the WPS button on the camera. The WPS LED on the camera will blink and then turn solid blue when connected.
   • Manual Setup: If WPS is not available, you will need to configure the wireless settings through the mydlink app or web interface after initial setup.

4.3 Software/App Setup

To manage and view your camera, download the free mydlink app.

1. Download the mydlink app: Search for "mydlink" in your device's app store (compatible with Android devices).
2. Create/Log in to mydlink account: Follow the on-screen instructions to create a new mydlink account or log in with an existing one.
3. Add Camera: Select the option to add a new device and follow the app's instructions to connect your DCS-5020L camera to your mydlink account. This typically involves scanning a QR code on the camera or entering its setup PIN.

5. Operating the Camera

5.1 Pan and Tilt Control

The camera features motorized pan and tilt functionality, allowing you to remotely adjust its viewing angle. Use the controls within the mydlink app to move the camera horizontally (pan) and vertically (tilt). The camera also supports digital zoom to focus on specific areas.

5.2 Night Vision

The integrated infrared (IR) LEDs enable the camera to capture clear video in low-light or complete darkness. The camera automatically switches to night vision mode when ambient light levels are insufficient.

5.3 Motion Detection

The camera is equipped with a motion sensor that can detect movement within its field of view. When motion is detected, the camera can be configured to send alerts (Alert Type: Motion Only) to your mydlink app, allowing you to respond promptly to events.

5.4 Remote Viewing

With the mydlink app, you can view live video feeds from your camera from anywhere with an internet connection. The app provides a multi-view option to monitor multiple cameras simultaneously.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To maintain optimal performance, periodically clean the camera's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols directly on the camera.

6.2 Firmware Updates

D-Link may release firmware updates to improve performance, add features, or address security vulnerabilities. It is recommended to regularly check for and apply available firmware updates through the mydlink app or D-Link's official website.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1 No Power

• Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the camera and a working power outlet.
• Verify the power outlet is active by plugging in another device.

7.2 Cannot Connect to Network

• Wired: Check the Ethernet cable connection to both the camera and the router. Ensure the router is powered on and functioning correctly.
• Wireless: Ensure the camera is within range of your Wi-Fi router. Verify your Wi-Fi password is correct. Try using the WPS button if your router supports it.
• Reset: If issues persist, press and hold the Reset button on the back of the camera for 10 seconds to restore factory default settings, then attempt setup again.

7.3 Poor Video Quality

• Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from dust or smudges.
• Check your internet connection speed. A slow connection can affect streaming quality.
• Adjust the camera's position to ensure adequate lighting.
