2. Safety Instructions
To ensure safe operation and prevent injury or damage, please read and adhere to the following safety guidelines:
- Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before performing any maintenance, installation, or handling.
- Ensure the pump is connected to a properly grounded electrical outlet. Do not remove the grounding prong from the power cord.
- Never operate the pump dry (without water). Dry operation can cause severe damage to the motor and seals.
- This pump is designed for submersible use only. Do not use it in any other manner.
- Regularly inspect the power cord for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. If the cord is damaged, do not use the pump and replace it immediately.
- Keep children and pets away from the pump and water features while the pump is in operation.
- Do not use the pump for purposes other than those specified in this manual.
- Ensure all electrical connections are protected from water exposure.
3. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of your Jebao EGP-850 pump:
- Placement: Position the pump completely submerged in water. The pump can be placed horizontally or vertically on a stable surface within your pond or water feature. Ensure it is not directly on the bottom where it might draw in excessive sludge or debris.
- Tubing Connection: The pump includes fittings for 1-1/2" MIPT / 1-1/2" FIPT and can accommodate 3/4" to 1-1/2" tubing. Select the appropriate fitting for your desired tubing size and securely attach it to the pump's discharge outlet. Connect your tubing (e.g., for a waterfall or fountain) to this fitting. Use hose clamps for a secure, leak-free connection.
- Electrical Connection: Route the 33-foot power cord to a grounded electrical outlet. Ensure the cord is not kinked or pinched. Plug the pump into the outlet.
- Initial Check: After installation, observe the pump's operation. Verify that water is flowing correctly and that there are no leaks in the tubing connections.
4. Operating Instructions
The Jebao EGP-850 pump is designed for continuous operation once properly installed and submerged.
- Power On: Once the pump is fully submerged and all connections are secure, plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet. The pump will begin to operate immediately.
- Continuous Duty: This pump is built for continuous duty, meaning it can run constantly without needing to be turned off, provided it remains submerged and free from blockages.
- Monitoring: Periodically check the water flow and the pump's performance. Any significant reduction in flow may indicate a need for maintenance.
- Power Off: To stop the pump, simply unplug it from the electrical outlet. Always unplug the pump before attempting any adjustments or maintenance.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will extend the life and efficiency of your pump.
- Cleaning the Impeller and Housing:
- Disconnect the pump from the power supply.
- Remove the pump from the water.
- Disassemble the pump housing (refer to any diagrams provided with the physical product for specific steps).
- Carefully remove the impeller. Clean any debris, algae, or mineral buildup from the impeller and its chamber using a soft brush and clean water. For stubborn mineral deposits, a mild acid solution (like vinegar) can be used, followed by thorough rinsing.
- Reassemble the pump, ensuring all parts are correctly seated.
- Intake Screen Cleaning: Periodically check and clean the pump's intake screen to prevent blockages from leaves, algae, and other debris. A clogged intake screen will reduce flow.
- Winterization (if applicable): In regions with freezing temperatures, remove the pump from the pond before winter. Clean it thoroughly and store it in a frost-free location, submerged in a bucket of water to keep seals moist, or ensure it is completely dry.
6. Troubleshooting
If your pump is not functioning as expected, consult the following table:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not run | No power to pump; Impeller jammed; Motor failure | Check power outlet and circuit breaker. Disconnect power, remove pump, and inspect impeller for debris. If still not working, contact support. |
| Low water flow | Clogged intake screen; Kinked or blocked tubing; Dirty impeller | Disconnect power, remove pump, clean intake screen. Check tubing for obstructions. Clean impeller as per maintenance section. |
| Pump is noisy | Debris in impeller; Pump not stable; Dry running | Disconnect power, clean impeller. Ensure pump is on a stable surface. Verify pump is fully submerged. |
