Safety Information
Always prioritize safety when operating any machinery. Failure to follow these safety guidelines may result in injury or equipment damage.
General Safety Precautions
- Read and understand all instructions in this manual before operating the spreader.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection, during assembly and operation.
- Keep hands, feet, and clothing clear of all moving parts, especially the spreader plate, during operation.
- Do not exceed the maximum load capacity of 80 pounds.
- Ensure the spreader is securely mounted to your ATV, UTV, or utility tractor before use.
- Keep children and bystanders away from the operating area.
- Operate the spreader only in well-ventilated areas.
Electrical Safety
- Connect the spreader only to a 12V DC power source.
- Ensure all electrical connections are secure and free from corrosion.
- Do not operate the spreader if the wiring harness or motor appears damaged.
- Avoid operating the spreader in heavy rain or wet conditions to prevent electrical hazards, even with the rain cover.
- Disconnect power before performing any maintenance or adjustments.

Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps carefully to assemble your Field Tuff Broadcast Spreader.
- Attach the Mounting Frame: Secure the mounting frame to the bottom of the hopper using the provided bolts and nuts. Ensure all connections are tight.
- Install the Motor and Spreader Plate: Mount the 12V motor to the frame, ensuring the shaft aligns with the spreader plate. Attach the spreader plate to the motor shaft.
- Connect the Control Lever: Attach the broadcast adjustment lever and its cable to the hopper's gate mechanism. Ensure the cable moves freely and operates the gate smoothly.
- Route the Wiring Harness: Connect the wiring harness to the 12V motor. Route the harness along the frame, securing it with cable ties to prevent entanglement.

Setup
Proper setup ensures efficient and safe operation of your spreader.
Mounting the Spreader to Your Vehicle
The spreader is designed for versatile mounting on the front or rear rack of most ATVs, UTVs, or utility tractors.
- Choose Mounting Location: Determine whether to mount the spreader on the front or rear rack of your vehicle based on visibility and accessibility.
- Secure Spreader: Use the provided mounting hardware to firmly attach the spreader's frame to the vehicle's rack. Ensure the spreader is level and stable.
Electrical Connection
The spreader requires a 12V DC power source from your vehicle.
- Connect to Power: Attach the wiring harness directly to your vehicle's 12V battery terminals (positive to positive, negative to negative).
- Mount On/Off Switch: Secure the convenient on/off power switch to your vehicle's handlebars or another easily accessible location.
- Mount Adjustment Lever: Position the broadcast adjustment lever with the gauge in a location that is easily reachable from the operator's position, typically on the left or right side of the spreader.
Operating Instructions
Follow these steps for effective and safe spreading of seeds or fertilizer.
Filling the Hopper
- Ensure the broadcast gate is fully closed using the adjustment lever before adding material.
- Carefully pour your desired seed, fertilizer, or small grain into the hopper. Do not overfill beyond the 80 lb capacity.
- Place the rain cover over the hopper to protect contents from moisture, especially during operation in damp conditions.
Adjusting Broadcast Width and Rate
- The spreader offers a maximum broadcast width of 12 feet. The actual spread width and rate are controlled by the broadcast adjustment lever.
- Use the gauge on the adjustment lever to set the desired opening for the material flow. A smaller opening will result in a lower application rate, and a larger opening will increase it.
- It is recommended to perform a test spread in a small area to calibrate the flow rate for your specific material and desired application density.
Spreading Material
- Start Motor: With the broadcast gate closed, turn on the power switch to activate the 12V motor and start the spreader plate rotating.
- Open Gate: Once the spreader plate is spinning, slowly open the broadcast gate to your pre-determined setting using the adjustment lever.
- Maintain Speed: Drive your vehicle at a consistent, moderate speed across the area you wish to spread. Overlapping passes slightly will help ensure even coverage.
- Close Gate: Before stopping the vehicle or turning off the motor, fully close the broadcast gate to prevent material from continuing to dispense.
- Turn Off Motor: Once spreading is complete and the gate is closed, turn off the power switch.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your spreader.
- Cleaning: After each use, thoroughly clean the hopper, spreader plate, and gate mechanism. Remove any residual material to prevent corrosion and clogging. Use water and a mild detergent, then rinse and dry completely.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a light lubricant to the moving parts of the gate mechanism and control cable to ensure smooth operation.
- Electrical Inspection: Regularly inspect the wiring harness, connections, and motor for any signs of wear, fraying, or corrosion. Repair or replace damaged components immediately.
- Storage: When not in use, store the spreader in a dry, protected area. Use the included rain cover to shield it from dust and moisture.
