Model: CB-100 PLUS (0084100036444) | Brand: CATA

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your CATA CB-100 PLUS Centrifugal Fan. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and retain them for future reference. The CATA CB-100 PLUS is a high-performance centrifugal extraction fan designed for wall-mounted applications, offering effective ventilation with a reach of up to 13 meters.

2. Safety Instructions

To prevent personal injury or damage to the appliance, always observe the following safety precautions:

  • Ensure the power supply is disconnected before installation, maintenance, or cleaning.
  • Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with local wiring regulations and building codes.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
  • Do not install the fan in areas where explosive or flammable gases are present.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation is provided to prevent the back-flow of gases from open flues of gas or other fuel-burning appliances.
  • Do not immerse the fan in water or other liquids.
  • Regularly inspect the fan for any signs of damage. Do not operate if damaged.

3. Product Overview

The CATA CB-100 PLUS is a robust centrifugal fan designed for efficient air extraction. Its compact design allows for discreet wall-mounted installation, making it suitable for various environments requiring powerful ventilation.

4. Dimensions and Installation Requirements

Accurate measurements are crucial for proper installation. Refer to the diagram below for detailed dimensions.

CATA CB-100 PLUS Dimensional Diagram

Figure 4.1: Dimensional drawing of the CATA CB-100 PLUS fan. The diagram includes top, side, and front views with labeled dimensions (A, B, C, D, E, F) and a table providing specific values for the CB-100 PLUS model: ØA=97.6mm, B=190mm, C=26mm, D=57.4mm, E=129.4mm, F=147.8mm. These dimensions are critical for preparing the installation opening.

The fan requires a circular opening of approximately 97.6 mm (ØA) for the duct connection. The overall square faceplate dimensions are 190mm x 190mm (B). The depth of the fan body is 57.4mm (D) from the mounting surface, with an additional 26mm (C) for the front grille.

5. Performance Characteristics

The performance curve illustrates the relationship between static pressure (Pa) and airflow volume (m³/h or m³/s) for the CB-100 PLUS model.

CATA CB-100 PLUS Performance Curve

Figure 5.1: Performance curve for the CATA CB-100 PLUS fan. The horizontal axis represents airflow volume (q) in m³/h and m³/s, ranging from 0 to 150 m³/h. The vertical axis represents static pressure (Pe) in Pa (mmcda), ranging from 0 to 150 Pa. The curve shows that as airflow increases, the static pressure the fan can overcome decreases, indicating its operational range under different system resistances.

This graph is essential for determining if the fan's performance meets the requirements of your specific ventilation system, considering duct length, bends, and other resistances.

6. Setup and Installation

6.1 Pre-installation Checks

  • Unpack the fan and inspect for any transit damage.
  • Verify that the voltage and frequency indicated on the fan's rating label match your local power supply (220 Volts).
  • Ensure the installation location is suitable for a wall-mounted extraction fan and has adequate space for maintenance.

6.2 Mounting Instructions

  1. Mark the position for the fan on the wall, ensuring it is level.
  2. Cut a circular opening in the wall with a diameter of approximately 98mm to accommodate the fan's duct connection.
  3. Secure the fan body to the wall using appropriate screws and wall plugs (not supplied), ensuring a firm and stable attachment.
  4. Connect the ducting to the fan's outlet, ensuring a tight seal to prevent air leakage.

6.3 Electrical Connection

WARNING: Electrical connections must be performed by a qualified electrician. Ensure the main power supply is OFF before proceeding.

  1. Open the terminal cover on the fan unit.
  2. Connect the live (L), neutral (N), and earth (E) wires from your power supply to the corresponding terminals inside the fan.
  3. Ensure all connections are secure and correctly insulated.
  4. Close the terminal cover securely.

7. Operating Instructions

Once installed and electrically connected, the CATA CB-100 PLUS fan is ready for operation.

  • Power On: Restore power to the circuit. The fan will typically operate when the connected light switch or external control is activated.
  • Operation: The fan will begin extracting air from the room, expelling it through the connected ducting.
  • Power Off: Deactivate the connected light switch or external control to turn off the fan.

Some models may feature an integrated timer or humidity sensor. Refer to specific wiring diagrams or additional instructions provided with such models for detailed operation.

8. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your fan.

8.1 Cleaning

WARNING: Always disconnect the power supply before cleaning.

  • Periodically clean the fan grille and exterior casing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • For deeper cleaning, carefully remove the front grille (if detachable) and gently wipe the fan blades and interior surfaces to remove dust and debris.
  • Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling and restoring power.

8.2 Regular Checks

  • Check for any unusual noises or vibrations during operation.
  • Inspect the electrical wiring for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Ensure the fan is securely mounted and there are no obstructions to airflow.

9. Troubleshooting

Before contacting technical support, please refer to the following common issues and their solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
