2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Initial Inspection

  1. Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
  2. Inspect the monocular and cleaning kit for any signs of damage. If any damage is observed, contact customer support immediately.
  3. Ensure all listed components are present: ZEISS 8x20 T-Design Selection Monocular, leather pouch, carrying strap, ZEISS Lens Cleaning Spray, and ZEISS Microfiber Cleaning Cloths.

2.2 Attaching the Carrying Strap

Locate the attachment points on the monocular body. Thread the carrying strap through these points and secure it according to the strap's design. Ensure the strap is firmly attached before use to prevent accidental drops.

2.3 Adjusting the Eyecup

The monocular features a fold-down style rubber eyecup. Adjust the eyecup by folding it down for use with eyeglasses or leaving it up for use without eyeglasses. This adjustment helps achieve the optimal eye relief for a full field of view.

3. Operating the Monocular

3.1 Holding the Monocular

Hold the monocular firmly in one hand. Position the objective lens (larger end) towards the subject and the eyecup (smaller end) towards your eye.

3.2 Focusing

The ZEISS 8x20 T-Design Monocular features manual focus. While looking through the monocular, rotate the focus ring until the image appears sharp and clear. The monocular has a close focus distance of 9.8 feet (3 meters).

3.3 Dioptric Correction

The monocular offers dioptric correction of +/- 4 dpt. If you have significant differences in vision between your eyes or prefer to use the monocular without eyeglasses, adjust the diopter setting to achieve a perfectly sharp image for your individual vision.

3.4 Observing

Once focused, you can observe distant objects with 8x magnification. The monocular provides a wide field of view of 330 feet at 1,000 yards, allowing for easy tracking of subjects. The patented T* anti-reflective multi-coating ensures bright images with genuine color fidelity and high resolution.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning the Monocular Lenses

Use the included ZEISS Lens Cleaning Kit for optimal lens care. First, gently brush off any loose dust or particles from the lens surfaces using a soft brush or by blowing lightly. Then, lightly spray the ZEISS Lens Cleaner onto a ZEISS Microfiber Cleaning Cloth and gently wipe the lens surfaces in a circular motion. Avoid applying the spray directly onto the lens.

4.2 Cleaning the Monocular Body

Wipe the monocular body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. The monocular features a weather-proof housing sealed against water spray, but it should not be submerged in water.

4.3 Storage

When not in use, store the monocular in its protective leather pouch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the lens caps are in place to protect the optical surfaces.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Image is blurry or out of focus: Adjust the focus ring until the image is sharp. Ensure the eyecup is correctly positioned for your vision (folded down for eyeglasses, up for no eyeglasses). If applicable, adjust the diopter setting.
  • Dust or smudges on the lens: Clean the lenses carefully using the ZEISS Lens Cleaning Kit as described in Section 4.1.
  • Monocular appears damaged: Do not attempt to repair the monocular yourself. Contact ZEISS customer support for assistance.
