Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove the clipper and all accessories from the packaging.
  2. Inspect: Check the clipper for any visible damage. Ensure the blades are clean and properly aligned.
  3. Oil Blades: Before first use, apply a few drops of the included clipper blade oil across the top of the blades. Turn the clipper on for a few seconds to distribute the oil. Wipe off any excess oil.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the clipper into a suitable electrical outlet. Ensure the voltage matches the clipper's requirements.

Operating Instructions

General Use

  • Ensure hair is clean and dry before cutting.
  • Select the appropriate attachment comb for the desired hair length. Slide the comb securely onto the clipper blade.
  • Turn the clipper on using the side switch.
  • Begin cutting against the direction of hair growth, using smooth, overlapping strokes.
  • Regularly clear hair from the blades during use to maintain cutting efficiency.
  • After use, turn off the clipper and unplug it.

Tapering and Fading

The Wahl Senior Clipper is specifically designed for on-scalp tapering and fading, as well as clipper-over-comb work and precision fades.

  • Use the adjustable taper lever on the side of the clipper to change the cutting length without changing attachment combs. Push the lever up for a shorter cut and down for a longer cut.
  • For zero-overlap cutting, adjust the blades as described in the "Blade Adjustment" section under Maintenance.
  • Practice on a mannequin head or a less visible area before attempting complex fades.

Maintenance

Cleaning

  1. Unplug: Always ensure the clipper is unplugged before cleaning.
  2. Brush Blades: Use the cleaning brush to remove loose hairs from the blades.
  3. Wipe Body: Wipe the clipper body with a clean, dry cloth. Do not immerse the clipper in water.

Oiling Blades

To maintain optimal cutting performance and blade longevity, oil the blades regularly (after every few uses or as needed).

  1. With the clipper unplugged, apply 2-3 drops of Wahl clipper oil across the top of the blades.
  2. Turn the clipper on for a few seconds to allow the oil to distribute evenly.
  3. Wipe off any excess oil with a soft cloth to prevent it from running into the motor housing.

Blade Adjustment (Zero-Overlap)

The blades can be adjusted for a closer cut (zero-overlap). This adjustment should be performed with caution as improper alignment can cause skin irritation or cuts.

  1. Unplug the clipper.
  2. Loosen the two screws on the stationary blade slightly.
  3. Carefully align the top blade with the bottom blade so that the cutting edge of the top blade is slightly behind the cutting edge of the bottom blade. Ensure the teeth of the top blade are centered over the teeth of the bottom blade.
  4. Tighten the screws firmly.
  5. Test the clipper on a small section of hair or a test strip to ensure proper cutting and no pulling.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
Clipper does not turn on. Not plugged in; power outlet issue; damaged cord. Check power connection; try a different outlet; inspect cord for damage (if damaged, do not use, contact support).
Clipper pulls hair or cuts poorly. Blades are dull; blades are not oiled; blades are misaligned; hair buildup. Oil blades; clean blades thoroughly; adjust blade alignment; consider blade replacement if dull.
Clipper gets hot during use. Lack of lubrication; prolonged continuous use; motor strain. Oil blades regularly; allow clipper to cool down between uses; ensure blades are clean and free of hair.
Excessive noise or vibration. Loose screws; motor issue; blade misalignment. Check and tighten blade screws; ensure blades are properly aligned; if problem persists, contact support.
