1. Introduction

2. Safety Information
- Power Source: Use only the specified AC adapter (not included) or the correct type and number of batteries. Incorrect power sources can cause malfunction or damage.
- Water and Moisture: Do not expose the unit to rain, moisture, or excessive humidity. Avoid placing objects filled with liquids, such as vases, on the unit.
- Ventilation: Ensure proper ventilation. Do not block ventilation openings.

4. Setup
4.1 Powering the Unit
The Casio SA-46 can be powered by either an AC adapter or batteries.
Using an AC Adapter (Sold Separately)
- Ensure the keyboard is turned OFF.
- Connect the AC adapter to the DC 9.5V jack on the back of the keyboard.
- Plug the AC adapter into a standard wall outlet.
Using Batteries (Sold Separately)
- Ensure the keyboard is turned OFF.
- Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the unit.
- Insert six (6) AA-size alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
4.2 Connecting Headphones
To practice privately, connect a pair of headphones (3.5mm stereo mini plug) to the PHONES/OUTPUT jack on the back of the keyboard. This will mute the built-in speakers.

5. Operating the Keyboard
5.1 Power On/Off
To turn the keyboard ON, slide the POWER switch to the 'ON' position. To turn it OFF, slide the switch to 'OFF'. The unit will automatically power off after a period of inactivity to save battery life.
5.2 Volume Control
Adjust the overall volume using the VOLUME slider on the left side of the control panel. Slide it towards 'MAX' for louder sound and 'MIN' for softer sound.
5.3 Selecting Tones (100 Tones)
The keyboard features 100 different instrument tones. To select a tone:
- Press the TONE button.
- Use the number buttons (0-9) to enter the two-digit tone number (e.g., 00 for Piano, 12 for Organ, 35 for Strings). A list of tones is printed on the control panel.
5.4 Selecting Rhythms (50 Rhythms)
Choose from 50 built-in rhythms to accompany your playing:
- Press the RHYTHM button.
- Use the number buttons (0-9) to enter the two-digit rhythm number (e.g., 00 for Pops, 07 for Dance, 19 for Latin). A list of rhythms is printed on the control panel.
- Press START/STOP to begin or end the rhythm.
- Adjust the rhythm tempo using the TEMPO buttons (+/-).
5.5 Playing Songs (10 Built-in Songs)
The keyboard includes 10 demonstration songs:
- Press the SONG BANK button.
- Use the number buttons (0-9) to select a song (e.g., 01 for Ode to Joy, 06 for Jingle Bells). A list of songs is printed on the control panel.
- Press START/STOP to play or pause the selected song.
5.6 Using Drum Pads (5 Drum Pads)
The keyboard features 5 dedicated drum pads for adding percussion sounds to your music. Simply press the pads to trigger different drum sounds.
5.7 Other Functions
- PIANO/ORGAN Button: Quickly switch between Piano and Organ tones.
- OCTAVE Button: Adjust the pitch of the keyboard up or down by octaves.
- METRONOME Function: Use the metronome to help with timing and rhythm practice.

6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Wipe the keyboard with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and a mild detergent, then wipe dry immediately. Avoid using alcohol, paint thinner, or other chemical solvents, as they can damage the finish.
6.2 Battery Replacement
If the sound becomes distorted or the display dims, replace all six AA batteries with new ones. Ensure the keyboard is OFF before replacing batteries.
6.3 Storage
When storing the keyboard for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Sound: Check if the power is ON and the volume is turned up. If using headphones, ensure they are properly connected. If using batteries, check if they are inserted correctly and have sufficient charge.
- Distorted Sound: This may indicate low battery power. Replace the batteries or use an AC adapter.
- Keys Not Responding: Ensure the unit is powered on. If the issue persists, try turning the unit off and on again.
- Unit Shuts Off Unexpectedly: The keyboard has an auto-power-off feature to save energy. If it shuts off during use, ensure the AC adapter is securely connected or batteries are fresh.
