3. Setup

3.1 Power Supply

The DP-006 can be powered by four AA batteries or an optional 5V DC power adapter. For battery operation, ensure four fresh AA alkaline batteries are inserted correctly into the battery compartment. For external power, use a 5V DC adapter with a minimum of 200mA output and a 2.5mm x 5.5mm tip positive connector.

3.2 SD Card Installation

The unit records to SD/SDHC card media. A 4GB card is typically included. Insert the SD card into the designated slot on the side of the unit. The DP-006 will format the card with its own file system, which may not be directly readable by a computer without exporting files first.

3.3 Initial Power On

Press and hold the power button to turn on the unit. The display will show the main recording interface. The intuitive menu system is designed for ease of use, often eliminating the need for extensive manual consultation for basic functions.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Interface Overview

The DP-006 features an analog-like interface with dedicated knobs and buttons for each track and function, minimizing menu diving. The clear display provides essential information for recording and playback.

4.2 Recording

• Track Selection: Use the dedicated REC buttons for tracks 1-4 to arm them for recording. Tracks 1 and 2 are mono, while tracks 3 and 4 can be switched between mono and stereo.
• Input Level Adjustment: Adjust the INPUT A and INPUT B level knobs to set appropriate recording levels. The built-in omni-directional condenser microphones are suitable for capturing vocals and acoustic instruments.
• Start Recording: Press the REC button once to arm, then press PLAY to begin recording. The unit supports two tracks of simultaneous recording and six tracks of simultaneous playback.

4.3 Playback and Mixing

• Playback: Press the PLAY button to start playback of recorded tracks.
• Mixing: Adjust the PAN and LEVEL knobs for each track to create your desired mix. The MASTER LEVEL knob controls the overall output volume.
• Dedicated Stereo Master Track: Mix your tracks down to a dedicated stereo master track for final production.

4.4 Built-in Tools

• Tuner: The DP-006 includes a chromatic tuner to help you achieve accurate pitch for your instruments.
• Metronome: A built-in metronome assists with timing and rhythm during recording. It can be routed to headphones without being recorded.
