Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of your Omnipure K2586-JJ inline water filter:

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve to your appliance or water line and turn it off.
  2. Prepare Tubing: Ensure you have 1/4" tubing cut to the appropriate length for your installation.
  3. Remove Plugs: The filter comes with two rubber plugs in each port. Remove these plugs before connecting tubing.
  4. Connect Inlet Tubing: Identify the inlet side of the filter (usually marked with a flow arrow). Insert the 1/4" tubing firmly into the quick-connect port until it resists. Gently pull back on the tubing to ensure it is locked in place.
  5. Connect Outlet Tubing: Connect the other end of the filter to your appliance or water line using the same quick-connect method. Ensure the flow direction arrow on the filter points towards the appliance.
  6. Flush the Filter: Before connecting to your appliance, direct the outlet tubing into a bucket. Slowly turn on the water supply and allow water to run through the filter for at least 10 minutes. This flushes out any carbon fines and wets the filter media.
  7. Check for Leaks: After flushing, turn off the water, connect the outlet tubing to your appliance, and slowly turn the water supply back on. Carefully inspect all connections for any signs of leaks. Tighten connections if necessary.
  8. Secure the Filter: It is recommended to secure the filter to a stable surface using mounting clips or straps, especially if it will be hanging in mid-air, to prevent strain on the tubing connections.
