Setup

1. Attaching the Ball Head to a Tripod:

   Locate the 3/8-inch mounting screw on your tripod's center column or platform. Align the threaded hole on the base of the G-10X ball head with the tripod screw. Rotate the ball head clockwise until it is securely fastened to the tripod. Ensure it is tightened firmly to prevent wobbling.
2. Attaching the Quick Release Plate to Your Camera:

   Locate the quick release plate (TY-50) provided with your ball head. Attach this plate to the 1/4-inch tripod screw socket on the bottom of your camera. Use an Allen key or coin to tighten the screw securely. Ensure the plate is flush against the camera body to prevent rotation.

3. Mounting Your Camera to the Ball Head:

   Ensure the Plate Fixing Knob on the ball head's quick release clamp is loosened. Slide the camera, with the attached quick release plate, into the clamp. The patented safety lock design will engage to prevent the camera from accidentally sliding out. Once the plate is fully seated, tighten the Plate Fixing Knob firmly until the camera is securely held in place. Always double-check the security of your camera before releasing your grip.

Operating the Ball Head

The Sirui G-10X Ball Head offers precise control over camera positioning through its three independent control knobs:

1. Ball Locking Knob:

   This is the largest knob on the ball head. Loosen it by turning counter-clockwise to allow free movement of the ball, enabling you to adjust your camera's tilt and rotation. Once the desired angle is achieved, tighten the knob clockwise to securely lock the camera in position. The double-bevel locking system ensures a very tight lock, supporting cameras up to 39.6 lb (18 kg).

2. Friction Control Knob:

   This smaller knob, often integrated with or adjacent to the Ball Locking Knob, allows you to set the tension or friction of the ball movement. Adjusting this knob helps prevent your camera from suddenly dropping when the main ball locking knob is loosened, especially with heavier camera setups. Turn clockwise to increase friction, counter-clockwise to decrease it. Set the friction to a level that allows smooth movement while providing enough resistance to hold the camera's weight when unlocked.
3. Panning Base Lock Knob:

   This knob controls the horizontal rotation of the ball head's base. Loosen it to pan your camera 360 degrees horizontally. Tighten it to lock the panning movement. The panning base features a 360-degree dial with degree markers, which is useful for precise adjustments in panoramic photography.

4. Portrait Orientation:

   To shoot in portrait orientation, loosen the Ball Locking Knob and tilt your camera into the designated 90-degree portrait notch. Once positioned, securely tighten the Ball Locking Knob to prevent any movement.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Sirui G-10X Ball Head:

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the ball head after each use, especially if exposed to dust, sand, or moisture. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and internal components.
• Lubrication: The Sirui G-10X Ball Head is designed for maintenance-free operation. Do not attempt to lubricate any internal components, as this can attract dust and debris, potentially impairing the smooth operation of the ball and locking mechanisms.
