Safety Information
Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage to the equipment.
- Ensure the air supply is disconnected before performing any installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting.
- Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure specified in the specifications section.
- The unit is suitable for use in solvent-free spray booths up to 70°C. Do not expose to temperatures outside this range.
- Clean the polycarbonate bowl with water only. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL or other solvents, as they can damage the bowl.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), such as eye protection, when working with compressed air systems.
- Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free before operating.
Setup and Installation
Follow these steps for proper installation of the air filter:
- Mounting: Securely mount the air filter to a stable surface using the integrated bracket. Ensure it is installed in a vertical position with the drain valve at the bottom.
- Inlet/Outlet Connections: Connect the incoming air supply line to the inlet port (marked "IN" or with an arrow indicating flow direction) and the outgoing air line to the outlet port. The port size is 1/2" BSP. Use appropriate thread sealant on all connections.
- Drain Valve: Ensure the manual drain valve (female 1/8" BSP outlet) is accessible for draining accumulated moisture.
- Pressure Check: After installation, slowly open the air supply valve and check all connections for leaks using a soapy water solution. Tighten any leaking connections.
Operating Instructions
The Sealey SA406F air filter operates automatically once installed in the air line. Its primary function is to remove moisture and particulate matter from the compressed air supply.
- Airflow: The filter is designed to handle a maximum airflow of 212 cfm. Ensure your system's airflow does not consistently exceed this limit.
- Moisture Drainage: Regularly check the polycarbonate bowl for accumulated water. When water reaches the indicated maximum level, open the manual drain valve to release the moisture. Close the valve once all water has been drained. The frequency of drainage will depend on the humidity of the air and the usage rate.
- Temperature Range: Operate the filter within the specified temperature range of up to 70°C (140°F).
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your air filter.
- Bowl Cleaning: Periodically, or when the bowl appears dirty, disconnect the air supply and carefully remove the polycarbonate bowl. Clean the bowl with clean water only. Do not use solvents, alcohol, or abrasive cleaners, as these can cause cracking or damage. Reinstall the bowl securely.
- Filter Element: The filter element should be inspected periodically for excessive contamination. If the element appears clogged or significantly reduces airflow, it may need replacement. Refer to Sealey's official documentation or contact support for replacement part numbers.
- Seal Inspection: Check O-rings and seals for signs of wear or damage. Replace any worn seals to prevent air leaks.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Air Leakage | Loose connections, damaged seals, cracked bowl. | Tighten connections. Inspect and replace damaged seals or bowl. |
| Reduced Airflow | Clogged filter element, excessive water in bowl. | Drain water from bowl. Inspect and replace filter element if necessary. |
| Water Not Draining | Drain valve clogged or faulty. | Clear any obstruction from the drain valve. If faulty, replace the valve. |
