Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your FERM WSM1008 Wall Chaser. Please read these instructions carefully before using the tool and keep them for future reference. This wall chaser is designed for cutting grooves in masonry, concrete, and similar materials using two diamond cutting discs.
Safety Instructions
Always observe general power tool safety guidelines.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety goggles, hearing protection, a dust mask, and heavy-duty gloves when operating the wall chaser.
- Work Area: Ensure your work area is clean, well-lit, and free from obstructions. Keep bystanders and children away.
- Electrical Safety: Before connecting the tool to a power source, ensure the voltage matches the rating plate. Do not use the tool in damp or wet conditions. Use a residual current device (RCD) for added protection.
- Tool Handling: Hold the tool firmly with both hands. Do not overreach. Maintain proper footing and balance at all times.
- Dust Extraction: Always connect a suitable dust extraction system to minimize dust exposure.
- Material Check: Before cutting, check the wall for hidden electrical cables, water pipes, or gas lines. Use a suitable detector.
- Blade Safety: Ensure blades are correctly installed and tightened. Never operate the tool with damaged or worn blades. Disconnect from power before changing blades.

Setup
1. Blade Installation
- Disconnect Power: Always unplug the tool from the power source before any adjustments or maintenance.
- Open Guard: Locate and open the blade guard mechanism.
- Install Discs: Place the two diamond cutting discs onto the spindle, ensuring the cutting direction arrows on the discs match the rotation direction indicated on the tool. Use the provided spacers to achieve the desired cutting width.
- Secure Discs: Tighten the locking nut using the spanner provided. Ensure discs are securely fastened but do not overtighten.
- Close Guard: Close the blade guard securely.

3. Laser Battery Installation
The laser guide requires 2 AAA batteries. Locate the battery compartment, insert the batteries according to polarity markings, and close the compartment. The laser assists in precise cutting line alignment.
Operating Instructions
1. Adjusting Cutting Depth and Width
- Cutting Depth: Use the depth adjustment mechanism to set the desired cutting depth (8-40 mm, 8 positions). Ensure the tool is unplugged before adjusting.
- Cutting Width: Adjust the slot width (8-30 mm, 6 positions) by adding or removing spacers between the diamond discs during blade installation.

2. Using the Laser Guide
Activate the laser guide using its dedicated switch. The laser projects a line onto the workpiece, indicating the precise cutting path. This aids in achieving straight and accurate grooves.

3. Cutting Procedure
- Mark Lines: Draw clear lines on the wall to define the desired cutting path.
- Position Tool: Place the machine with the wheels against the wall. Ensure the cutting wheels are aligned with the drawn lines, using the laser guide for precision.
- Start Tool: Hold the device firmly with both hands. Turn on the device and wait until the machine reaches full speed before engaging the cutting discs with the wall.
- Begin Cutting: Slowly and steadily guide the wall chaser along the marked lines. Do not force the tool; let the discs do the work. Observe the power feedback indicator (if present) to avoid overloading.
- Complete Cut: Once the cut is complete, lift the tool from the surface and turn it off. Wait for the discs to stop rotating before setting the tool down.

Maintenance
1. Cleaning
After each use, disconnect the tool from the power supply. Clean the tool thoroughly, especially the ventilation slots and blade area, to prevent dust buildup. Use a brush or compressed air. Do not use water or chemical cleaners.
2. Blade Replacement
When diamond discs become dull or damaged, they must be replaced. Follow the "Blade Installation" steps in reverse to remove old discs and then install new ones. Always use genuine FERM replacement discs for optimal performance and safety.
