5. Conversion Modes

The Harlow crib offers 4-in-1 functionality, converting into a daybed, toddler bed, and full-size bed. Conversion kits for the toddler bed and full-size bed are sold separately.

5.1: Adjusting Mattress Height

The mattress support frame has three adjustable height positions. For infants, use the highest position. As your child grows and becomes more active, lower the mattress support to prevent climbing out. Always ensure the mattress support is securely fastened at your chosen height.

  • Highest Position: For newborns and infants who cannot push up on hands and knees.
  • Middle Position: For infants who can push up on hands and knees.
  • Lowest Position: For toddlers who can stand.

5.2: Daybed Conversion

To convert the crib to a daybed, remove the Front Crib Rail (A). The Mattress Support Frame (E) should be set to the lowest position. Ensure all remaining hardware is securely tightened.

5.3: Toddler Bed Conversion (Toddler Guardrail sold separately)

To convert to a toddler bed, follow the daybed conversion steps (remove Front Crib Rail). Then, attach the Toddler Guardrail (H) to the front of the crib using the provided hardware from the guardrail kit. The Mattress Support Frame (E) must remain in the lowest position.

5.4: Full-Size Bed Conversion (Full-Size Bed Rails sold separately)

To convert to a full-size bed, remove both the Front Crib Rail (A) and Back Crib Rail (B). Attach the Full-Size Bed Rails (I) to the Left End Panel (C) and Right End Panel (D) using the hardware provided with the full-size bed rail kit. The Mattress Support Frame (E) is typically not used in this configuration; a full-size mattress and box spring (or slat roll) will rest on the full-size bed rails.

6. Care and Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the crib with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners or strong chemicals that could damage the finish.
  • Inspections: Periodically check all screws, bolts, and other hardware to ensure they are tight and secure. Do not overtighten.
  • Storage: If storing the crib, do so in a dry, temperature-controlled environment to prevent warping or damage to the wood.
  • Sunlight Exposure: Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, which can cause fading or cracking of the finish.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Crib feels wobbly after assembly: Ensure all bolts are fully tightened. Check that all parts are correctly aligned according to the assembly instructions.
  • Difficulty aligning holes during assembly: Loosely assemble all parts first, then gradually tighten all bolts. This allows for minor adjustments.
  • Squeaking noises: Check all joints and hardware for tightness. A small amount of silicone lubricant (avoid petroleum-based products) can be applied to metal-on-metal contact points, but ensure it is safe for children's products.
  • Missing parts: Do not attempt to use the crib with missing parts. Contact Delta Children customer service for replacement parts.
