Setup

1. Battery Installation

The forecast station requires 3 "AA" alkaline batteries, and the wireless outdoor sensor requires 2 "AA" alkaline batteries. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.

  1. Insert 2 "AA" batteries into the wireless outdoor sensor.
  2. Insert 3 "AA" batteries into the main forecast station.
  3. Allow a few minutes for the sensor to connect to the main unit. The outdoor temperature and humidity should appear on the display.

2. Sensor Placement

Place the wireless outdoor sensor in a shaded, dry location, away from direct sunlight and heat sources, to ensure accurate temperature and humidity readings. The maximum transmission range is over 330 feet (100 meters) in open air.

3. Initial Setup and Atomic Time Synchronization

Upon power-up, the station will automatically search for the atomic time signal (WWVB) and attempt to synchronize. This process may take several minutes to several hours depending on your location and signal strength. The atomic signal updates the time and date automatically, including Daylight Saving Time (DST).

  • Ensure the station is placed near a window or in an area with good reception.
  • Manually set your time zone and city for accurate sunrise/sunset times. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual for specific button presses.

  • Indoor Temperature & Humidity: Current readings for your indoor environment.
  • Outdoor Temperature & Humidity: Readings from the wireless sensor.
  • Barometric Pressure: Current pressure reading and a 12-hour history graph.

2. Fisherman Icon and Forecast

The fisherman icon changes attire to indicate the current weather forecast and its tendency. For example, a fisherman in a raincoat suggests rain, while one in light clothing indicates clear weather. This icon reacts to changes in barometric pressure and temperature to provide a visual forecast.

3. Historical Barometric Pressure

The station displays a 12-hour history graph of barometric pressure, allowing you to observe pressure trends. Rising pressure generally indicates improving weather, while falling pressure suggests deteriorating conditions.

4. MIN/MAX Records

The station records minimum and maximum values for indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity. These records can be viewed by pressing the appropriate button (refer to your full manual for specific button functions).

5. Backlight

The display features an LED backlight for improved visibility in low-light conditions. Press the SNOOZE/LIGHT button to activate the backlight.

6. Dual Alarms

The unit includes dual alarms. Instructions for setting and activating these alarms are available in the comprehensive user manual.

Maintenance

1. Battery Replacement

Replace batteries in both the main unit and the outdoor sensor when the low battery indicator appears on the display. It is recommended to replace all batteries simultaneously to ensure consistent performance.

2. Cleaning

Clean the display and casing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the unit. Keep the sensor free from dirt and debris.

Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
No outdoor temperature/humidity reading.
  • Ensure batteries are correctly installed in both units.
  • Press the TX button on the outdoor sensor to send a signal.
  • Bring the sensor closer to the main unit to check for interference.
  • Remove batteries from both units, wait 15 minutes, then reinsert batteries into the sensor first, then the main unit.
Atomic time not synchronizing.
  • Place the station near a window, facing Fort Collins, Colorado (WWVB signal source).
  • Avoid placing near electronic devices that may cause interference.
  • Allow overnight for synchronization, as signal strength is often better at night.
Inaccurate temperature/humidity readings.
  • Ensure the outdoor sensor is not in direct sunlight or near heat sources.
  • Verify proper ventilation around both units.
