Setup

Follow these steps to prepare your Roomba 775 PET for its first cleaning cycle.

  1. Unboxing: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure you have the Roomba robot, Home Base charging station, power cord, remote control, and two Virtual Walls (Auto On and Halo).
  2. Home Base Placement: Place the Home Base against a wall in an open, uncluttered area. Ensure there is at least 0.5 meters (1.5 feet) of clear space on either side of the Home Base and 1.2 meters (4 feet) in front of it. Plug the power cord into the Home Base and then into a wall outlet.
  3. Initial Charge: Place your Roomba onto the Home Base. The power indicator light on the Roomba will pulse to indicate charging. Allow the robot to charge for at least 16 hours before its first use to fully condition the battery.
  4. Virtual Walls: Install batteries (if not pre-installed) into the Virtual Walls. Position them to block off areas you do not want Roomba to enter. The "Auto On" feature means they will activate automatically when Roomba is nearby.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for keeping your Roomba 775 PET operating at peak performance. Perform these tasks regularly.

  • Emptying the Dust Bin: After each cleaning cycle, or when the bin full indicator illuminates, press the bin release button and pull out the dust bin. Open the bin door and empty all debris. The dust bin has a capacity of 0.38 liters.
  • Cleaning the Filters: The Roomba 775 PET uses dual HEPA filters. Remove the filters from the dust bin and tap them against a trash can to remove loose debris. Do not wash HEPA filters with water. Replace filters every 2-3 months, or more frequently with heavy use.
  • Cleaning the Brushes: Periodically remove the main brushes and side brush. Use the included cleaning tool to remove hair and debris wrapped around the brushes and their bearings.
  • Cleaning the Caster Wheel: Pull firmly on the front caster wheel to remove it. Clean any hair or debris from the wheel, axle, and housing.
  • Cleaning Sensors: Wipe the charging contacts on the robot and Home Base, as well as the cliff sensors and wall-following sensor, with a clean, dry cloth.
