4. Setup & Assembly
Assembly typically requires two people. Follow these steps carefully:
- Unpack and Identify Parts: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Lay them out on a soft, clean surface to prevent damage. Identify each part using the list in Section 3.
- Attach Shelves to Side Frames:
- Align Shelf 5 (Bottom) with the lowest pre-drilled holes on both Side Frame A and Side Frame B.
- Secure the shelf using the provided screws from the hardware pack. Do not overtighten initially.
- Repeat this process for Shelf 4, Shelf 3, Shelf 2, and Shelf 1 (Top), working your way upwards. Ensure each shelf is oriented correctly with the raised edge facing upwards to prevent items from sliding off.

- Tighten All Fasteners: Once all shelves are in place, carefully tighten all screws. Ensure the unit is stable and level.
- Wall Mounting:
- Position the assembled ladder shelf against the desired wall.
- Mark the locations for the wall mounting brackets (usually located at the top of the side frames).
- Drill pilot holes if necessary, using a drill bit appropriate for your wall material (e.g., drywall, concrete, wood studs).
- Insert wall anchors if required.
- Secure the ladder shelf to the wall using the provided wall mounting hardware. This step is crucial for stability and safety.

5. Operation
The SoBuy Ladder Shelf is designed for displaying and storing various items. Follow these guidelines for optimal use:
- Weight Distribution: Distribute weight evenly across the shelves. Place heavier items on lower shelves for better stability.
- Item Placement: Ensure items are placed securely and do not overhang the edges of the shelves excessively.
- Wall Mounting: Always ensure the unit is securely wall-mounted before placing items on it.

6. Maintenance
Proper maintenance will extend the life of your ladder shelf:
- Cleaning: Wipe the surfaces with a dry, soft cloth. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed immediately by a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
- Fastener Check: Periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months) check all screws and wall mounting hardware to ensure they are still tight. Retighten if necessary.
- Avoid Moisture: Do not expose the shelf to excessive moisture or direct sunlight for prolonged periods, as this can cause warping or discoloration.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Shelf is wobbly or unstable. | Screws are loose; unit is not properly wall-mounted; uneven floor. | Ensure all assembly screws are tightened. Verify wall mounting is secure. Use shims under the feet if the floor is uneven. |
| Parts are missing or damaged. | Manufacturing defect or shipping damage. | Do not proceed with assembly. Contact SoBuy customer support immediately for replacement parts. |
| Difficulty aligning holes during assembly. | Parts are incorrectly oriented; screws are overtightened prematurely. | Double-check part orientation against the instructions. Loosen previously tightened screws slightly to allow for adjustment, then retighten once all parts are aligned. |
