Instruction Manual

Product Overview

The Proslat 88102 Heavy Duty PVC Slatwall Garage Organizer provides a robust and versatile solution for maximizing storage space. This system is composed of 10 individual PVC slatwall panels, creating an 8 ft. x 4 ft. (32 sq. ft.) installed section. Designed for durability and ease of use, it can hold up to 75 lbs (34 kg) per square foot, making it suitable for a wide range of garage items.

Proslat Slatwall panels are made from 90% recycled materials, offering an environmentally conscious storage solution. Their patented design ensures maximum strength by transferring the workload to the screws, not the panel itself. The unique hidden screw design provides a clean, professional finish, and the panels are impact resistant, easy to clean, and simple to reconfigure as your storage needs evolve.

Before You Begin

Ensure you have the following tools readily available:

  • Drill
  • Level
  • Measuring Tape
  • Stud Finder (if installing over drywall)
  • Jigsaw or Circular Saw (if cutting panels)

Installation Steps

  1. Prepare the Wall: Identify and mark stud locations if installing over drywall. Ensure the wall surface is clean and clear.
  2. Install Trims: Attach the L-trim and J-trims according to your desired configuration (track, section, or full wall). These trims help create a finished look and can mask imperfections from panel cuts.
  3. Begin Panel Installation: Start from the bottom or a designated starting point. Align the first panel and secure it to the studs using the provided screws and drill bit. The patented design places screws above the hook cavity for optimal strength.
  4. Interlock Panels: Place the next panel directly above the previous one, ensuring it interlocks securely. Apply a small amount of pressure or a gentle tap to ensure it clicks into place.
  5. Continue Installation: Repeat the process for all remaining panels. If cutting panels to fit around windows or doors, use a jigsaw or circular saw. The trims will cover any cut edges.
  6. Finalize: Once all panels are installed, ensure all screws are tightened and the system is secure.

Configuration Options

Proslat Slatwall offers flexible installation to suit your needs:

  • Track Installation: Install a single row or a few rows of panels to create a horizontal track for hanging tools and accessories.
  • Section Installation: Install a defined rectangular section of panels, such as the 8 ft. x 4 ft. area provided, to create a dedicated storage zone.
  • Complete Wall Installation: Cover an entire wall or multiple walls for maximum storage and a cohesive look.

Care and Maintenance

Proslat Slatwall panels are designed for easy maintenance. To clean the panels, simply wipe them down with a damp cloth. For more stubborn dirt or grime, a mild soap solution can be used.

Static Cling: Due to the PVC material, panels may accumulate static charge, attracting dust or lint. To minimize this, it is recommended to wipe the panels with a dryer sheet or a cloth lightly dampened with a fabric softener solution before installation. This can help reduce static buildup and keep the grooves cleaner over time.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions

  • Panels Not Seating Correctly: Ensure each panel is fully interlocked with the one below it. Listen for a distinct 'click' sound. A gentle tap with your fist may be needed to fully seat the panel.
  • Imperfections After Cutting Panels: If you cut panels to fit around obstacles, any rough edges or minor imperfections will be hidden by the included L-trim and J-trims. Ensure trims are properly installed to cover these areas.
  • Missed a Stud During Installation: If a screw misses a stud, simply remove it. The hidden screw design allows you to reposition the screw, and the next panel installed above it will conceal the previous hole, maintaining a professional finish.
  • Panels Attracting Dust/Lint (Static Cling): As mentioned in the maintenance section, wipe panels with a dryer sheet or a cloth dampened with fabric softener before installation to reduce static electricity.
  • Concerns About Weight Capacity: The Proslat Slatwall is engineered to hold up to 75 lbs per square foot. Ensure that Proslat-brand accessories are used, as they are designed to distribute weight effectively and maximize the system's strength. The patented screw placement above the hook cavity ensures the workload is carried by the screws, not the panel itself.
