Setup
Unpacking and Initial Inspection
Carefully remove the pump from its packaging. Inspect the pump for any visible damage or missing components. Ensure the pump head and handle are securely attached.
Mounting the Pump
The pump includes a cage mount for convenient attachment to your bicycle frame. Use the provided hardware to secure the mount to your bike's water bottle cage bosses. Place the pump into the mount, ensuring it is held firmly in place.
Understanding the AnyValve Head
The AnyValve head is designed to automatically detect and seal with Presta, Schrader, and Dunlop valves. No manual adjustment of internal components is typically required for standard use. However, if you need to inspect or clean the internal rubber components, the front cap of the pump head can be unscrewed and the rubber piece can be reversed or re-seated.
Operating Instructions
Attaching to the Valve
- For Presta Valves: Unscrew the valve stem lock nut on your tire valve. Push the pump head firmly onto the valve stem until it is seated completely. Flip the lever on the pump head to the locked position to secure it.
- For Schrader Valves: Push the pump head firmly onto the valve stem until it is seated completely. Flip the lever on the pump head to the locked position to secure it.
- For Dunlop Valves: Push the pump head firmly onto the valve stem until it is seated completely. Flip the lever on the pump head to the locked position to secure it.
Pumping Technique
Once the pump head is securely attached, extend the handle fully. Hold the pump body steady with one hand and push the handle down with the other, applying steady pressure. Repeat this motion until the desired tire pressure is reached. The maximum recommended pressure for this pump is 90 PSI.
Detaching from the Valve
After inflation, flip the lever on the pump head to the unlocked position. Carefully pull the pump head straight off the valve stem. For Presta valves, remember to tighten the valve stem lock nut.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Wipe the exterior of the pump with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
Internal Inspection and Rebuild
The pump features rebuildable internals. If you notice a decrease in pumping efficiency or air leakage from the pump head, the internal seals may need inspection or replacement. To access the internals, carefully unscrew the front cap of the pump head. Inspect the rubber gaskets and O-rings for wear or damage. Replace any worn parts with genuine Blackburn replacement components. Reassemble carefully, ensuring all parts are correctly seated.
Storage
Store the pump in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the handle is fully retracted and the pump head is clean before storage.
Troubleshooting
Difficulty Attaching Pump Head
- Ensure the valve stem is clean and free of debris.
- For Presta valves, ensure the valve stem lock nut is fully unscrewed before attaching.
- Push the pump head firmly and straight onto the valve stem.
Air Leakage During Pumping
- Verify the pump head lever is fully in the locked position.
- Check the internal rubber seals of the AnyValve head for wear or damage. Refer to the Maintenance section for inspection and replacement.
- Ensure the pump head is properly seated on the valve stem.
Pump Not Building Pressure
- Inspect the pump's internal piston seals for wear. If the pump feels loose or offers little resistance, the seals may need replacement.
- Ensure the valve stem is not clogged or damaged.
