Introduction

This manual provides instructions for the Redi-Remote Replacement Remote Control, designed for specific AIWA audio systems. This remote is a custom-built replacement and is not an original AIWA product. It is pre-programmed to operate the compatible AIWA units listed below without additional setup.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

The remote control requires 4 AAA batteries (included). To install:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote control.
  2. Slide open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

No programming is required for this remote control. It is ready for use with your compatible AIWA unit immediately after battery installation.

Operating Instructions

The remote control features a standard layout with a sliding cover to reveal additional functions. Refer to the image below for button identification.

Upper Section Buttons

  • PWR (Power): Turns the AIWA unit on or off.
  • SLEEP: Activates or adjusts the sleep timer function.
  • TV/VIDEO: Switches between TV and Video input sources.
  • DISP (Display): Changes the display mode or information shown on the unit.
  • VOL +/- (Volume): Increases or decreases the audio volume.
  • MUTE: Mutes or unmutes the audio output.
  • CH +/- (Channel): Changes radio channels or tracks on a CD/Tape.
  • MENU: Accesses the system menu.
  • RECALL: Recalls previous settings or stations.
  • Numeric Keypad (0-9, 100, ENT): Used for direct input of channel numbers, track numbers, or other numerical selections.

Lower Section Buttons (Slide Down to Reveal)

To access these functions, slide the lower cover of the remote control downwards.

  • TIMER: Sets or adjusts the timer functions.
  • MONO/TUNER/CLOCK: Selects mono audio, tuner mode, or sets the clock.
  • CD EDIT/CHECK: For editing CD programs or checking disc information.
  • PRGM (Program): Programs CD tracks or radio stations.
  • RANDOM/REPEAT: Toggles random play or repeat functions for audio playback.
  • DISC 1-7: Direct selection buttons for specific discs in a multi-disc changer.
  • TAPE: Selects the tape deck function.
  • SURROUND: Activates or adjusts surround sound modes.
  • TUNER: Selects the radio tuner function.
  • MANUAL/SELECT: For manual tuning or selection in various modes.
  • DOLBY PROLOGIC: Activates Dolby Pro Logic sound processing.
  • T-BASS: Adjusts the bass enhancement feature.
  • GEQ (Graphic Equalizer): Accesses or adjusts equalizer settings.
  • VIDEO: Selects the video input source.
  • KARAOKE: Activates karaoke functions.
  • OPEN/CLOSE: Opens or closes the CD tray.
  • REC/REC MUTE: Initiates recording or mutes recording input.
  • PAUSE/SET: Pauses playback or confirms settings.
  • CD: Selects the CD player function.
  • Play/Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind, Skip Track: Standard playback control buttons.
  • CLEAR: Clears current selections or inputs.

Maintenance

Cleaning

To clean the remote control, use a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as these may damage the remote's surface or internal components.

Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the remote's response becomes sluggish or stops functioning. Always replace all 4 AAA batteries at the same time with new ones. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries.

Storage

If the remote control will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and potential damage.

Troubleshooting

  • Remote not responding:
    • Ensure the batteries are inserted correctly with the proper polarity.
    • Replace old batteries with new ones.
    • Check for any obstructions between the remote control and the AIWA unit's infrared sensor.
    • Ensure you are within the effective range and line of sight of the AIWA unit.
  • Specific functions not working:
    • Verify that the AIWA unit is powered on and in the correct mode (e.g., CD mode for CD functions).
    • Some functions may require the lower cover to be slid down to reveal the corresponding buttons.
  • Remote controls other devices:
    • This remote is specifically designed for the listed AIWA models and cannot be programmed to control auxiliary devices. If it is affecting other devices, ensure it is pointed directly at the AIWA unit.
