Introduction
The VOX StompLab 1G is a compact multi-effects modeling pedal designed for guitarists. It offers a wide array of sounds and effects, categorized by musical style for ease of use. This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your StompLab 1G pedal.

Setup
Powering the StompLab 1G
The StompLab 1G can be powered by either an AC adapter (9V DC) or four AA batteries. An AC adapter is recommended for stable performance, especially during extended use.
- AC Adapter Connection: Connect the 9V DC power adapter to the DC 9V input jack on the rear panel of the unit.
- Battery Installation: For portable use, install four AA batteries into the battery compartment located on the underside of the pedal. Refer to the "Maintenance" section for detailed battery installation instructions.
Connecting Your Equipment
Connect your guitar to the INPUT jack and your amplifier or headphones to the OUTPUT/PHONES jack. The OUTPUT/PHONES jack supports both stereo and mono connections.

Operating Instructions
The StompLab 1G features an intuitive control layout for easy sound manipulation.
Controls Overview
- CATEGORY Knob: Use this knob to select from various musical style categories (e.g., Rock & Roll, Blues, Pop, Jazz/Fusion, Ballad, Hard Rock, Metal, Hard Core, Other). Each category contains multiple preset programs.
- GAIN / VALUE1 Knob: Adjusts the gain level of the selected effect or changes the value of parameters during editing.
- LEVEL / VALUE2 Knob: Controls the overall output level or changes the value of parameters during editing.
- FOOTSWITCHES (DOWN/UP): These footswitches allow you to navigate through programs (DOWN/UP) and activate the Bypass/Tuner function by holding both simultaneously.
- EDIT Button: Used to enter edit mode for customizing programs.
- EFFECT TYPE Button: Selects the effect type within a program during editing.

Selecting Programs
- Turn the CATEGORY knob to select a musical style.
- Use the DOWN and UP footswitches to cycle through the preset programs within the selected category. The display will show the program number.
Using the Tuner
To activate the built-in tuner, press and hold both the DOWN and UP footswitches simultaneously. The display will show tuning information. Press either footswitch again to exit tuner mode.

Maintenance
Battery Replacement
To replace the batteries in your StompLab 1G, follow these steps:
- Ensure the unit is powered off and disconnected from any power source.
- Carefully turn the unit upside down.
- Unscrew the four rubber feet on the bottom panel. These feet also secure the battery compartment cover.
- Remove the bottom panel to access the battery holder.
- Replace the old AA batteries with four new ones, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Securely reattach the bottom panel and screw the four rubber feet back into place.

Cleaning
Wipe the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
Troubleshooting
- No Sound:
- Check all cable connections (guitar to input, output to amp/headphones).
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected or batteries are correctly installed and charged.
- Verify the unit is powered on.
- Check the volume levels on the StompLab 1G, your guitar, and your amplifier/headphones.
- Unexpected Sound/Distortion:
- Adjust the GAIN and LEVEL knobs.
- Ensure the correct program/effect is selected for your desired sound.
- Check for faulty cables.
- Unit Does Not Power On:
- If using batteries, replace them with fresh ones.
- If using an AC adapter, ensure it is the correct 9V DC type and is functioning properly.
