Installation Steps:
- Safety First: Before beginning any electrical work, ensure power to the circuit is turned off at the main breaker.
- Prepare Wiring: Run your speaker wire (up to 12-gauge bare wire or 8- to 16-gauge for banana plugs) through the wall to the desired location for the wall plate. Leave sufficient slack for connections.
- Install Mounting Bracket: If a low voltage mounting bracket is not present, install one according to its manufacturer's instructions.
- Connect Speaker Wires:
- For Bare Wire: Unscrew the binding post terminals on the rear of the wall plate. Strip approximately 1/2 inch of insulation from the speaker wire ends. Insert the bare wire into the hole on the side of the binding post and tighten the terminal screw to secure the wire. Ensure no stray strands of wire are touching other terminals.
- For Banana Plugs: Insert banana plugs into the rear of the binding posts. Ensure a secure connection.
- Observe polarity: The WP2 features color-coded terminals (red for positive, black for negative). Connect the positive (+) wire from your amplifier to the red terminal and the negative (-) wire to the black terminal. Maintain consistent polarity throughout your audio system.
- Mount the Wall Plate: Carefully push the connected wires and the wall plate into the mounting bracket. Align the screw holes on the wall plate with those on the mounting bracket. Secure the wall plate using the provided screws. Do not overtighten.
- Connect Speakers: Once the wall plate is installed, connect your speaker to the front terminals using either bare wire or banana plugs, observing correct polarity.
- Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the main breaker.
