2. Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.
- Weight Capacity: Do not exceed the carrier's maximum distributed weight capacity of 500 lbs (226.8 kg) or your vehicle's hitch tongue weight rating, whichever is lower. Overloading can cause loss of vehicle control.
- Hitch Compatibility: This carrier is designed for 2-inch x 2-inch hitch receivers (Class III and IV). Ensure your vehicle's hitch is compatible and properly installed.
- Secure Cargo: Always secure all cargo using appropriate tie-downs, straps, or netting to prevent shifting or falling during transit. Loose cargo can create hazards.
- Load Distribution: Distribute weight evenly across the carrier surface. Place heavier items in the center and secure them firmly.
- Clearance: Ensure adequate ground clearance and clearance from exhaust systems. Hot exhaust can damage cargo.
- Visibility: Ensure the carrier and its contents do not obstruct your vehicle's taillights, brake lights, turn signals, or license plate. Use auxiliary lighting if necessary.
- Driving Adjustments: Drive cautiously, especially when turning, braking, or driving over uneven terrain. The added weight and length will affect vehicle handling.
- Regular Inspection: Before each use, inspect the carrier for any signs of damage, loose fasteners, or wear. Do not use if damaged.
- Assembly: Ensure all bolts, nuts, and pins are securely tightened according to the assembly instructions.
- Folding Mechanism: Exercise caution when folding or unfolding the carrier to avoid pinching hands or fingers. Ensure the folding mechanism is fully locked in place before driving.
- Reflectors: Ensure reflectors are clean and visible for increased road safety, especially at night.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all components are present before beginning assembly. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not proceed with assembly and contact customer support.

4. Setup and Assembly
Assembly typically requires basic hand tools (wrenches). It is recommended to have a second person assist with lifting and positioning the carrier sections.
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and lay them out on a clean, flat surface.
- Attach Hitch Shank to Main Basket: Align the hitch shank with the mounting points on the main cargo basket section. Secure using the provided bolts, washers, and nuts. Ensure all fasteners are tightened firmly.
- Attach Folding Basket Section: Connect the folding basket section to the main basket using the folding mechanism hardware. This typically involves aligning hinge points and inserting pins or bolts. Ensure the folding mechanism operates smoothly and locks securely in both the folded-up and unfolded positions.
- Install Reflectors: Mount the red reflectors to the designated areas on the carrier, usually on the rear or sides, using the provided hardware. Ensure they are facing outwards for maximum visibility.
- Mount to Vehicle: Slide the hitch shank into your vehicle's 2-inch hitch receiver. Align the hitch pin holes and insert the hitch pin. Secure the hitch pin with the cotter pin or clip.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Unfolding the Carrier
- Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface with the parking brake engaged.
- Locate the folding mechanism pin or latch.
- Carefully disengage the pin/latch and lower the cargo basket until it is fully extended and locked into the horizontal position. Ensure the locking mechanism is fully engaged.

5.2 Loading Cargo
- Place cargo evenly across the basket surface. Heavier items should be centered.
- Do not exceed the 500 lb (226.8 kg) distributed weight capacity.
- Ensure cargo does not extend beyond the carrier's dimensions in a way that obstructs vehicle lights or license plate.
- Use high-quality tie-down straps, bungee cords, or cargo nets to secure all items firmly to the carrier's rails. Check for any potential shifting before driving.

5.3 Folding the Carrier
- Remove all cargo from the carrier.
- Locate the folding mechanism pin or latch.
- Carefully disengage the pin/latch and lift the cargo basket upwards until it is in the vertical, folded position.
- Secure the folding mechanism pin/latch to lock the carrier in the folded position. Ensure it is fully engaged before driving.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the carrier regularly with mild soap and water to remove dirt, road grime, and salt. Rinse thoroughly and dry to prevent rust.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all bolts, nuts, and pins for tightness. Re-tighten as necessary. Check for any signs of rust, cracks, bends, or other damage to the steel frame or mesh.
- Lubrication: Apply a light lubricant to the folding mechanism pivot points periodically to ensure smooth operation.
- Storage: When not in use, store the carrier in a dry place to prevent corrosion. If stored outdoors, consider using a protective cover.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier rattles or wobbles excessively. | Loose hitch connection; uneven cargo distribution. | Ensure hitch pin is fully secured. Consider using a hitch tightener (sold separately). Redistribute cargo evenly. |
| Folding mechanism is stiff or difficult to operate. | Lack of lubrication; dirt/debris in mechanism. | Clean the pivot points and apply a light lubricant. |
| Cargo shifts during transit. | Improperly secured cargo; inadequate tie-downs. | Always use appropriate and sufficient tie-downs. Ensure all items are tightly secured and cannot move. |
| Carrier drags on the ground. | Overloaded; vehicle suspension sag; steep incline/decline. | Reduce cargo weight. Check vehicle's suspension. Exercise caution on steep ramps or driveways. |
