Setup and Installation

Before You Begin:

  • Gather necessary tools: oil filter wrench, drain pan, new engine oil, rags.
  • Ensure the engine is warm but not hot, as warm oil drains more easily.
  • Locate the existing oil filter on your John Deere equipment.

Installation Steps:

  1. Place a drain pan beneath the oil filter to catch any dripping oil.
  2. Using an oil filter wrench, carefully loosen the old oil filter. Once loose, unscrew it by hand. Be prepared for oil to drain out.
  3. Clean the filter mounting surface on the engine, ensuring no old gasket material remains.
  4. Apply a thin film of new engine oil to the rubber gasket of the new John Deere oil filter. This helps ensure a proper seal.

  6. Screw the new filter onto the engine by hand until the gasket makes contact with the mounting surface.
  7. Tighten the filter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn by hand. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the filter or engine.
  8. Refill the engine with the recommended type and amount of new engine oil.
  9. Start the engine and check for any oil leaks around the new filter. Run the engine for a few minutes, then shut it off and recheck the oil level. Add more oil if necessary.

Operation

Once installed, the John Deere OEM Oil Filter AM125424 continuously filters the engine oil, removing harmful particles such as dirt, metal shavings, and sludge. This process is crucial for maintaining oil cleanliness, lubricating engine components effectively, and preventing premature wear and tear on the engine.

Maintenance

Regular replacement of your oil filter is essential for the health of your John Deere equipment. It is generally recommended to replace the oil filter at least once a year or every 50-100 operating hours, whichever comes first. Always consult your specific equipment's owner's manual for precise maintenance intervals and recommendations.
