Setup

Unpacking

Carefully remove the unit from its packaging. Ensure all components are present and undamaged. Keep the original packaging for potential future transport or service.

Placement

  • Place the turntable on a flat, stable, and level surface to prevent vibrations and ensure proper record playback.
  • Avoid placing the unit in direct sunlight, near heat sources, or in areas with high humidity or excessive dust.
  • Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.

Power Connection

Connect the power cord to the AC inlet on the back of the unit, then plug it into a standard wall outlet. The unit is designed for Corded Electric power source.

Dust Cover Installation

Carefully attach the clear dust cover to the hinges at the back of the unit. This cover protects the turntable from dust when not in use.

Stylus Protection

Before first use, gently remove the clear plastic stylus protector from the needle assembly on the tonearm. Be careful not to bend the stylus.

Operating Instructions

Turntable Operation

  1. Lift the dust cover.
  2. Place a vinyl record on the turntable platter.
  3. Select the appropriate speed (33, 45, or 78 RPM) using the speed selector switch, typically located near the platter. Ensure the speed matches the record you are playing.
  4. Gently release the tonearm clamp.
  5. Use the cueing lever to lift the tonearm.
  6. Manually position the tonearm over the desired starting groove of the record.
  7. Slowly lower the cueing lever to gently place the stylus onto the record. Playback will begin.
  8. At the end of the record, the turntable may feature an auto-stop function, which will stop the platter rotation. If not, manually lift the tonearm and return it to its rest.
  9. Secure the tonearm with its clamp when not in use.

AM/FM Radio Operation

  • Switch the function selector to AM or FM mode.
  • Extend the FM wire antenna for better reception. For AM, rotate the unit for optimal signal.
  • Use the tuning knob to scan for radio stations. The LCD display will show the frequency.

Built-in Speakers and Volume Control

The Lauson CL135 features integrated speakers for convenient audio playback. Adjust the volume using the main volume knob on the front panel. The unit is compatible with external speakers if you wish to connect them via the appropriate output ports (if available).

LCD Display

The blue backlit LCD display provides information such as selected function (e.g., PHONO, AM, FM) and radio frequency.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Stylus

A dirty stylus can cause poor sound quality and damage to your records. Use a soft brush, specifically designed for stylus cleaning, to gently brush the stylus from back to front. Do not use excessive force or brush from side to side.

Cleaning the Unit

  • Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Keep the dust cover clean with a soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid scratching the surface.

Record Care

Handle records by their edges. Store them vertically in their sleeves to prevent warping and dust accumulation. Clean records regularly with a dedicated record cleaning brush or solution.
