  • Store in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible Cause / Solution
Radio does not power on.Battery is not installed correctly or is depleted. Ensure battery is properly seated and charged.
Cannot transmit or receive.
  • Check if the frequency is correct and within the radio's operating range.
  • Ensure the antenna is securely attached.
  • Verify that the correct CTCSS/DCS tones are set if required for the channel.
  • Confirm the PTT key is fully pressed.
Poor audio quality or static.
  • Adjust the squelch level (SQL setting). A higher squelch level (e.g., 9) can reduce background noise.
  • Check antenna connection.
  • Ensure you are within range of the other radio or repeater.
LCD display turns black or becomes unreadable during prolonged use.The radio may be overheating from extended transmission. Allow the radio to cool down. The display should return to normal.
Difficulty programming channels.
  • Manual programming can be complex; refer to online resources or videos for detailed steps.
  • For PC programming, ensure you have the correct USB programming cable (e.g., PC03 FTDI) and compatible software (e.g., CHIRP). Driver issues are common with generic cables; ensure proper driver installation.
  • When programming repeaters, ensure both the complete receive frequency and the transmit frequency (with correct offset) are programmed.
Dual Watch (TDR) function misses conversations. The TDR function scans between two VFOs and may miss short transmissions. This is inherent to the design and not a malfunction.
