1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective installation, operation, and maintenance of the GE TEY330 3-Pole 480V 30A Circuit Breaker. Please read this manual thoroughly before attempting any procedures. Retain this manual for future reference.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Electrical shock hazard. Installation and servicing of this circuit breaker must be performed by qualified personnel only. Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or death.

  • Always disconnect power at the main service panel before installing or servicing the circuit breaker.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when working with electrical systems.
  • Ensure all wiring connections are secure and meet local electrical codes.
  • Do not operate the circuit breaker if it appears damaged.

3. Product Overview

The GE TEY330 is a 3-pole, 30 Amp, 480 Volt circuit breaker designed to provide overcurrent protection for electrical circuits. 4. Setup and Installation

Installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and standards.

  1. Power Disconnection: Ensure all power to the panelboard or load center is completely disconnected at the main service disconnect. Verify with a voltage tester.
  2. Mounting: The TEY330 circuit breaker features a plug-in mount. Align the breaker's mounting clips with the appropriate slots in the panelboard and firmly press until it is securely seated.
  3. Wiring: Connect the circuit wires to the appropriate terminals on the circuit breaker. The recommended wire size is 14-10 AWG. Tighten terminal screws to a torque of 25 lb/in (2.8 Nm) to ensure proper electrical contact and prevent overheating.
  4. Verification: Double-check all connections for tightness and correct wiring. Ensure no bare wires are exposed.
  5. Restore Power: Once installation is complete and verified, restore power to the main service panel.

5. Operating Instructions

The GE TEY330 circuit breaker is designed for simple operation.

  • Turning ON: Push the toggle switch firmly to the 'ON' position.
  • Turning OFF: Push the toggle switch firmly to the 'OFF' position.
  • Tripped Breaker: If an overload or short circuit occurs, the breaker will automatically move to a 'TRIP' position (often midway between ON and OFF). To reset a tripped breaker, first push the toggle switch completely to the 'OFF' position, then firmly push it to the 'ON' position. If the breaker immediately trips again, do not force it; investigate the cause of the trip.
  • Manual Trip: A red 'MANUAL TRIP' button is provided for testing purposes or to manually trip the breaker without turning it off. Pressing this button will move the breaker to the 'TRIP' position. Reset as described above.

6. Maintenance

The GE TEY330 circuit breaker requires minimal maintenance. Regular inspection is recommended.

  • Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the circuit breaker for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections. Ensure the toggle switch moves freely.
  • Cleaning: If necessary, gently clean the exterior of the breaker with a dry, lint-free cloth. Ensure power is disconnected before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Professional Check: For any concerns regarding the breaker's performance or condition, consult a qualified electrician.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your GE TEY330 circuit breaker, consider the following:

  • Breaker Trips Frequently: This indicates an overload or a short circuit in the protected circuit. Disconnect appliances or devices from the circuit to identify the source of the overload. If the issue persists, consult a qualified electrician to inspect the wiring and connected loads.
  • Breaker Will Not Reset: If the breaker does not stay in the 'ON' position after being reset (pushed to OFF then ON), it likely indicates a persistent fault (overload or short circuit) or an internal issue with the breaker. Do not force the breaker. Disconnect power and have the circuit and breaker inspected by a qualified electrician.
  • No Power to Circuit: If the breaker is in the 'ON' position but there is no power to the circuit, verify that the main power supply to the panel is active. If it is, the breaker may be faulty, or there could be a wiring issue. Consult a qualified electrician.
