Setup
1. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card
Open the battery/memory card cover located on the bottom of the camera. Insert the rechargeable Li-ion battery, ensuring correct orientation as indicated inside the compartment. Insert an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card into the designated slot until it clicks into place. Close the cover securely.
2. Charging the Battery
Connect the camera to the AC adapter using the supplied USB cable. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet. The charging indicator will light up. Charging is complete when the indicator turns off.
3. Initial Settings (Language, Date, Time)
Upon first power-on, the camera will prompt you to set the language, date, and time. Use the directional pad to navigate and the OK button to confirm your selections.
Operating the Camera
1. Taking Photos
Turn on the camera by pressing the power button. The lens will extend.
- Shooting Modes: Press the MODE button to select from various shooting modes such as Auto, Scene Auto Selector, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Night Portrait, Party/Indoor, Beach, Snow, Sunset, Dusk/Dawn, Night Landscape, Close-up, Food, Museum, Fireworks Show, Black and White Copy, Backlighting, and Panorama.
- Zoom: Use the zoom lever (W/T) to zoom in (T) or out (W) to frame your shot. The camera features a 6x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom.
- Focus: The camera automatically focuses on your subject. A green frame indicates focus.
- Flash: Press the flash button (lightning bolt icon) to cycle through flash modes: Auto, Auto with red-eye reduction, Fill flash, Slow sync, and Flash off.
- Shutter: Press the shutter button halfway to focus, then press it all the way down to take a picture.
2. Recording Videos
The Nikon COOLPIX S3300 can record HD (720p) movies.
- To start recording, press the dedicated movie record button (red dot icon) on the back of the camera.
- To stop recording, press the movie record button again.
- Optical VR Image Stabilization helps reduce camera shake during video recording.

3. Viewing Photos and Videos
Press the playback button (triangle icon) to enter playback mode.
- Use the directional pad to scroll through your images and videos.
- To play a video, select it and press the OK button.
- To zoom in on a photo, use the zoom lever.
4. Transferring Files to a Computer
You can transfer photos and videos to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
